Samsung Soundbar Latency

Used as soundbar for our Samsung TV.

I was able to mount Samsung soundbar easily. It meets my need.

I am able to connect my iPad and samsung galaxy phone at the same time with no problems. The latency is very low.

I received my SRS-NS7 from B&H about a week ago and was totally hooked on it within an hour of starting to use it. However I want to offer some strong advice to those who plan to use one of these while watching TV alongside other viewers. My wife and I normally sit about 12 ft from our TV monitor and typically sit close enough that we rub shoulders. We have a Sonos soundbar under the monitor, with surround sound speakers at each end of our loveseat. I wear hearing aids but Patty does not. The optical output of the TV goes to a splitter with one output going to the soundbar and the other going to the Bluetooth transmitter for the SRS-NS7. With the arrangement described above, we both heard sound from the soundbar and the NS7, and there was enough latency difference to irritate us both. I have a technical background and had anticipated such a latency effect, but had no knowledge of the actual delays with either device. I spoke with an audio expert at B&H, asking for advice about a variable delay device that has optical input(s) and output(s). He could not recommend such a device that is currently available from B&H but did suggest a Felston DD740 that B&H used to carry. I looked up the characteristics of the DD740 and agreed that it seemed to be exactly what I needed. I purchased one from LipFix.com, after talking with their Nick Johnson. It arrived yesterday. After connecting my new DD740 in series with the optical input to the Bluetooth transmitter of the SRS-NS7 and experimenting with the delay, I found that a delay of 55mS yields NO perceptible latency effects that interfere with either what Patty and I hear while watching TV. The bottom line: We both enjoy hearing REALLY EXCELLENT sound, including very clear dialogue, while watching TV together AND I get the benefit of superb sound while editing videos etc. with the SRS-NS7 connected to the Bluetooth of my computer systems. I was a bit skeptical at first as I thought the slimness of this soundbar may not produce good enough sound, however I was pleasantly surprised when I fired up one of the Marvel movies and the sound was pretty good! The subwoofer also did not disappoint, the deep bass was just enough for our living room. I liked the handy remote, and the soundbar sits unobtrusively with our TV and pumps awesome theatrical Dolby Atmos. I would definitely recommend this Soundbar to anyone looking to upgrade their sound system, as it is easily installed and ready to wow you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was previously using a standalone soundbar without a subwoofer from a different brand which wasn’t too bad but having the Samsung QN-95B 75” TV and knowing what the built-in TV speakers were capable off I was also missing out on using them until I discovered Q-Symphony that allows the TV Speakers to be used in addition to the soundbar. The Samsung HW-S700D Soundbar was a perfect fit was my living space and served this purpose extremely well. The Soundbar and Subwoofer was super easy to setup. Although wireless capable, I chose to use the HDMI cable provided and it was an instant detection and pairing. My Samsung TV automatically recognized the Q-Symphony compatibility and adjusted the sound accordingly for maximum balance and range. The SpaceFit Sound Pro worked its magic to utilize the position and space and adjust automatically even while watching content in real time. No other setup required. I moved the subwoofer to various positions, and ultimately had it next to the sofa which enhanced the bass and feel. The Soundbar and Subwoofer provide great sound levels with well-balanced Treble, Mid, and Bass levels. The bass was a much-needed addition and gave the overall feel a more realistic vibe specially when watching movies and certainly listen to music. The bar is super slim yet performed extremely well for its form factor. It took up much less space than other soundbars and the overall design is super sleek to blend in with my room decor.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Q800D Soundbar is mind blowing with how clear and satisfying it sounds. I have a few Samsung sound bars and I can't believe how Samsung keeps raising the bar (lol) every time. This soundbar shines with Dolby Atmos content, the immersion is surprisingly better than some home theater setups that are much more expensive. I wish there were more HDMI inputs on the soundbar and that it could support waking up when using a PC. But other than that, this soundbar has modern features that'll work in any smart home ecosystem.
