Samsung Soundbar Optical Cable Vs Bluetooth

I received my SRS-NS7 from B&H about a week ago and was totally hooked on it within an hour of starting to use it. However I want to offer some strong advice to those who plan to use one of these while watching TV alongside other viewers. My wife and I normally sit about 12 ft from our TV monitor and typically sit close enough that we rub shoulders. We have a Sonos soundbar under the monitor, with surround sound speakers at each end of our loveseat. I wear hearing aids but Patty does not. The optical output of the TV goes to a splitter with one output going to the soundbar and the other going to the Bluetooth transmitter for the SRS-NS7. With the arrangement described above, we both heard sound from the soundbar and the NS7, and there was enough latency difference to irritate us both. I have a technical background and had anticipated such a latency effect, but had no knowledge of the actual delays with either device. I spoke with an audio expert at B&H, asking for advice about a variable delay device that has optical input(s) and output(s). He could not recommend such a device that is currently available from B&H but did suggest a Felston DD740 that B&H used to carry. I looked up the characteristics of the DD740 and agreed that it seemed to be exactly what I needed. I purchased one from LipFix.com, after talking with their Nick Johnson. It arrived yesterday. After connecting my new DD740 in series with the optical input to the Bluetooth transmitter of the SRS-NS7 and experimenting with the delay, I found that a delay of 55mS yields NO perceptible latency effects that interfere with either what Patty and I hear while watching TV. The bottom line: We both enjoy hearing REALLY EXCELLENT sound, including very clear dialogue, while watching TV together AND I get the benefit of superb sound while editing videos etc. with the SRS-NS7 connected to the Bluetooth of my computer systems. I wanted to get a soundbar for a TV that I inherited. Space was a consideration. This LG SK1 is just right at a good price. Note that it comes with cable for optical hookup so you don't need to buy one separate (I didn't see this in the description, so I now have an extra optical cable).

I was looking for a Bluetooth device to play music from my Ipod and Ipad to my older Denon receiver. After looking at the reviews, I picked this one even though it was pricey than others I have looked at. When it arrived, it was well packaged, came with a usb power supply , usb cable, gold plated audio cables and a cloth bag to store the unit. Even though it has a optical digital output, No optical cable was included. I had this for about 3 months now and I can say that I'm really impressed with it and wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their products. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a high quality Bluetooth receiver.

I've tried Bluetooth, ARC, optical cable and this. The streambar is by far the easiest, least glitchiest way to get my streaming services in to a decent speaker

Love that TV , but I wished it had an Optical connection for my Soundbar.

I purchased this cable to use to hook up my Samsung TV and soundbar. Quality was excellent, the cable well made. I had the cable within 3 days. Another outstanding product from B&H.

I bought this tv in December with the B&H Payboo credit card, so I paid no sales tax. During that week B&H had a 10% off Sony special so I paid just under $4500 total with free shipping. Wow! The price was too hard to refuse. You have to love the specials only B&H periodically has. I had the tv in my living room in 5 days. I don't own an LG G3 or Samsung S95C to compare to, but I can attest that the picture on the A95L is amazing. I don't have cable so I just stream. I use the google Chromecast which is included in the tv. I run an HDMI eARC cable from the tv to my Samsung soundbar. What I love is the one Sony remote controls the soundbar through the eARC cable. I push power and it turns on the tv and soundbar and controls the sound. Everything is so simple. No more cable boxes for me with the separate remote. If I want cable again I'll stream Hulu or YouTube tv. Back to the picture - it's awesome what this tv does with 4k programs. Put on the Crown, or other movies or programs filmed in 4k and you feel like you are in the room it's so realistic. My suggestion is to watch in vivid picture mode, as there is a huge increase in brightness, and I believe definition. It's hard to watch anything in 1080p because there is no comparison. I did test the tv's sound, and my Samsung soundbar with sub is much better. That said, in my opinion the tv is better than advertised. I can't even describe how amazing it is to watch 4k content. It's unbelievably good. I love it!

I was able to mount Samsung soundbar easily. It meets my need.
