Samsung Soundbar Smart Mode Vs Surround

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a large bedroom (12’x15’) and very high, vaulted ceilings to 12 feet. The Samsung HW-Q800D is meant to replace an older 2.1 soundbar that vastly lacked in volume and surround features. Can the Samsung HW-Q800D make a difference in such a voluminous space? Let me tell you that it can and then some. First off, let’s talk about connectivity. If you have HDMI eARC on your TV, connect it there, and you are off to the races. If you want Bluetooth connectivity to your phone or tablet, that’s also easy enough as well. Finally, if you want to connect to WiFi to make it a smart speaker with Google Assistant, Alexa, or Bixby that’s easy enough with the Samsung SmartThings app. The sound stage for the HW-Q800D truly does impress even in a large room such as mine. I tested the surround channels through my gaming console settings, and the sound bar’s ability to produce discrete locations for sound that clearly defined height and depth truly is astounding. Credit goes to SpaceFit Sound Pro for being able to calibrate the space in my room for the optimal listening experience. I watched various movies and programs to test the sound quality and was truly amazed at the clarity of dialogue (even better with Active Voice Amplifier on), the rumble of bass from action scenes, and the fidelity of music from soundtracks. Believe me when I say it is a very enjoyable and immersive experience. I have found that even with streaming music and programming that only has 5.1 or stereo, this system makes everything sound all that much better. Now, the only drawback to this soundbar is if you truly wanted the extra surround stage with rear speakers. If your set-up does not require this, then this is truly the best choice for a single surround soundbar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X capabilities.

My apartment is on the small side but with no central A/C it gets loud in the living room which also doubles as my office. I wanted a solution to louder sound and to improve the standard from my Samsung 4K UHD TV. This AIO Soundbar is a perfect fit. It doesn't take up a lot of room and was super easy to install. Pairing it with my TV took a minute to find that I had to re-enable the HDMI eARC settings on the TV. I have had the TV for 2 years and suspect if it was newer, it might have gelled right away. Either way, it works great and is a fantastic addition to my entertainment experience. I haven't played with any of the advance controls, like the equalizer, and the sound still blows me away. Even in my kitchen with the oven fan on the sound is clear and crisp. Background noises and "surround" features are amazing! More than once I had to turn MUTE the TV because the "surround" sounds were so realistic. The soundbar pairs seamless with my TV remote and my in-home voice assistant. I have to say if you are putting off getting a AIO soundbar, don't! The Samsung S50B is AMAZING!

The set up was very simple and was playing audio within 15 minutes via wifi and included hdmi cable. The included subwoofer is a nice touch to the mighty sound of the soundbar. I was so impressed with the overall sound from playing music and streaming video....I added a pair of the wireless Samsung surround sound speakers (SWA 9500). I have a complete surround sound in my office that rivals my Q900 with SWA 9500 surround sound speakers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to get this soundbar because I know Samsung consistently delivers quality products that are top of the line and this Samsung HW-Q800D soundbar delivers! The first thought that came to my mind when I received and opened the soundbar was Wow this is one beautiful soundbar, it's so elegant and sleek looking that it looks good in any space without effort. Unpacking and setting up the sound bar was effortless and it had a nice premium feel to it without being too heavy. It comes with 2 power cords for both the soundbar as well as the subwoofer, a high speed HDMI cable, and the One remote by Samsung which is pretty sleek, but unfortunately does not have the solar panel recharging ability, which to me is not a big deal. Setting up the soundbar just requires plugging it in and turning it on. Once you turn it on is when you know how awesome this soundbar sounds and is immediately clear that it packs a powerful punch in a not so big size. The great thing about it is that it has many sound modes including Q-symphony, Dolby Atmos, Game Mode Pro, Active Voice Amplifier and many more. The Q-Symphony mode is truly magical because it fills the room with sound that you wouldn't think is possible from a soundbar in this size. Everyone that enjoys watching movies nowadays knows about Dolby Atmos and its ability to deliver sound from the upfiring speakers to truly immerse you into a movie. Game mode pro is also a sound mode I enjoy a lot since I game occasionally and helps me get immersed in my games with its crazy 3D sound capabilities. It's hard to talk about every awesome feature this soundbar has since there are so many, but for anyone that purchases this for their home entertainment setup, they will be blown away by this soundbar and I recommend it to everyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so thrilled that I finally took steps to upgrade my home theatre sound with the Samsung Soundbar S50B. I love my smart TV, but the sound quality on its own is not at all smart. I found myself constantly turning the volume up and down in a battle to find the right level because speaking was too quiet but music and sound effects were way too loud. The Samsung Soundbar has solved that issue immediately with no need for adjustment on my end; the sound as I watch movies, TV, or play video games is well balanced. I also have satellite radio on my TV, and it sounds awesome on the soundbar. Setup was super easy too- I just used the included HDMI cord to plug in to the HDMI/ARC port on my TV, plug in the power cord, and select the source and it was ready to go with no troubleshooting needed. I just love when something works like it's supposed to the first time, and is intuitive. I'm a happy camper!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this as a second screen. At 4k with smart apps (plus my Samsung soundbar) it makes a nice media device next to my work screen. Or switching to extended desktop using the remote is I need to. Very clean design, has speakers and 2 hdmi plus usb-c to plug in my laptop or tablet (dex) if I want to run two devices. Got a great deal too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced our 10-year-old 2-channel soundbar with this Samsung model for our bedroom, where we love watching movies at night without disturbing our sleeping children. Our old soundbar often made it hard to hear dialogue without turning up the volume, which was problematic with an 8-month-old in the next room. This Samsung soundbar solves that issue with its voice dialogue enhancement feature, which clarifies dialogue without needing to increase the volume. The 5-channel setup delivers excellent audio quality, especially given the compact size of the soundbar. One of the standout features is its smart functionality, particularly the Alexa compatibility. We used to rely on a small Echo Dot for connectivity, but the built-in Alexa on the soundbar has replaced it, providing a significant upgrade in audio quality. Additionally, the Samsung app allows me to switch between audio settings seamlessly from my phone with no lag. Overall, we are very satisfied with this soundbar and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, smart soundbar.

The sound quality is so much better than the smart TV sound. I wish we had purchased the soundbar earlier. We are now re-watching some of our favorite movies to enjoy the enhanced audio. We are new to Roku so we have not used all the features yet, such as listening to audiobooks or radio, but will try soon, as I find Roku easy to use. Our 2nd TV does not have the ports necessary to get the most from a Soundbar Pro. We are now considering replacing that TV so we can use a Soundbar in that room also.
