Samsung Tv Optical Output Not Working

This adapter worked perfectly to connect my tv, which only had an optical output, to the soundbar.

Used it to take TV optical audio output to be able to put it through my surround sound system. Worked very well; excellent quality.

I received my SRS-NS7 from B&H about a week ago and was totally hooked on it within an hour of starting to use it. However I want to offer some strong advice to those who plan to use one of these while watching TV alongside other viewers. My wife and I normally sit about 12 ft from our TV monitor and typically sit close enough that we rub shoulders. We have a Sonos soundbar under the monitor, with surround sound speakers at each end of our loveseat. I wear hearing aids but Patty does not. The optical output of the TV goes to a splitter with one output going to the soundbar and the other going to the Bluetooth transmitter for the SRS-NS7. With the arrangement described above, we both heard sound from the soundbar and the NS7, and there was enough latency difference to irritate us both. I have a technical background and had anticipated such a latency effect, but had no knowledge of the actual delays with either device. I spoke with an audio expert at B&H, asking for advice about a variable delay device that has optical input(s) and output(s). He could not recommend such a device that is currently available from B&H but did suggest a Felston DD740 that B&H used to carry. I looked up the characteristics of the DD740 and agreed that it seemed to be exactly what I needed. I purchased one from LipFix.com, after talking with their Nick Johnson. It arrived yesterday. After connecting my new DD740 in series with the optical input to the Bluetooth transmitter of the SRS-NS7 and experimenting with the delay, I found that a delay of 55mS yields NO perceptible latency effects that interfere with either what Patty and I hear while watching TV. The bottom line: We both enjoy hearing REALLY EXCELLENT sound, including very clear dialogue, while watching TV together AND I get the benefit of superb sound while editing videos etc. with the SRS-NS7 connected to the Bluetooth of my computer systems. Used to sum the stereo output of an Apple TV (Optical Audio to Analog converter PodDI to a Mono Mixer. The podDI works great the the Ground loop switch makes it crystal clear!

Had to convert optical output from new TV to analogue to drive two Sennheiser headphones. Works perfectly.

I bought this amp just for the functionality. I just needed an optical input for my Samsung smart tv, and I thought the Bluetooth would be nice. I also input record player/turntable and have old-school Bose and Technic speakers that just need stereo wire inputs. I did not expect it to sound as good as it does. I did have issues running my minimac hdmi out into the reciever and into the Tv/moniter. It sounded ok but the screen kept trying to configure the scale for viewing and I gave up and eventually just ran the headphone output on the mac into the rca input on the receiver and it sounds great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have mine connected to my Samsung tv via the optical audio connection. Works perfect and the added subwoofer and surround speakers make it a true surround sound experience!

I bought this TV a month ago and it is working great. I would only hope Samsung TVs would have extra HDMI ports..Mine has two... One for my cable and one for my Blue Ray..I needed another for my PC..Had to get an adapter but then I have to change the input .. Instaed of just direct tuning...

This converter creates an audio output from my Samsung TV if, on the TV's sound menu under settings, I select PCM instead of Dolby.
