Sandisk Extreme Portable 500 Gb Solid State Drive

2024-06-08 04:20:52

Every computer should come with these solid state drives these days. I already had a 500 GB installed, now I added this drive just for my photography files. Dramatic increase in speed accessing files. Worth every penny as the price of these drives continues to drop. Every computer I use will have one of these from now on, except my laptop (for now).

I recently got a SanDisk 1TB SSD (Solid State Drive) and used a drive cloning device to clone my old 1TB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to the new SSD. It works wonders in my 15 year old computer! It really speeds up drive-related activities, perhaps as much as 3 or 4 times faster. I think my old HP laptop computer is either a SATA or SATA II type, so I suspect those with a SATA III system would see even better speed results when going from a HDD to a SSD. Gotta love it!

I got this as a backup for my SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD V2. I clone that drive using SuperDuper and that's it.

This is my third SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable. Fast and reliable.

Bought this as an upgrade to another portable hard drive I have for when I'm shooting on the road. It's super fast and I don't have to worry about a spinning disk since it's solid state. Also, being solid state it seems to draw less power from my laptop. The biggest plus is the extra speed though. Great little hard drive

Use with SanDisk 64 GB Extreme Pro CF type B as well as SanDisk 32GB Extreme PRO UHS-II SDXC Memory Card. Both cards supported; moving files from the cards to my Dell XPS 15 was lightning fast. Haven't had a card in for any length of time to see how hot the reader gets (a comment that other reviewers have made)

I'm using these cards in both my Olympus E-M1X and Nikon Z6 II bodies, and they have been working very well. I used to use the Sandisk Extreme Pro +-cards for everything, but they don't have any UHS-II cards larger than 128 GB, so now I'm using a mix of different cards from different reputable makes. There was originally a 256 GB version of the Extreme Pro UHS-II, but it was cancelled. The Sandisk UHS-II cards are also relatively slow compared to some of the others. So far these PNY Elite X-Pro 90 cards have been very reliable for me in all the camera bodies I have been using them in. Some camera bodies have trouble starting up with cards that are not great quality, but my camera bodies have all be very reliable and start up right away with these cards, ready for what I need them for next. I would definitely get these again!

The SanDisk 512 GB Extreme PRO UHS-I SDXC Memory Card is a useful memory card for my Nikon Z6II camera. This card is fast, reliable, and has enough memory for long term use. I’ve used SanDisk Memory Cards for many years and rely on them to preserve my photographs. Highly recommended.
