Satechi Aluminium Bluetooth Keyboard

Other than not having the touch ID function that Apple's Bluetooth keyboard offers, Satechi does an immaculate job. Even Apple's magic keyboard doesnt have backlit keys, like this one! It's recommend it in a heartbeat over the other one. Well built! 5 |

I'm impressed by the build quality (all aluminium) and the features. It's a really compact but very powerful bi-color fresnel. Easy to set up and adjust. I wasn't sure about the smartphone app but it's surprisingly easy to use. Bluetooth connection works even from 50ft like a charm and no need for annoying Bluetooth pairing, which is nice. I'm using 3 practilites at the same time via iphone in my studio and it's really a huge time saver. I'm running those on my gold- mount PAG batteries and a practilite runs on 100% for more than 2 hours. The boost mode was a bit confusing at first but it's just like an overdrive mode and can be useful when you need some extra lighting power but really don't care about the colour temperature. According to Kinotehnik boost mode must be disabled (or at least not recommended) while running on battery, though? All in all, a solid piece of equipment. 5 |

I liked the Satechi Slim X1 that I bought two from B&H for our Mac mini computers. I think it's a classy looking keyboard with a positive feel when you press a key. Strong bluetooth and long-lasting battery. 5 |

Apple now sells the same size keyboard for much more money and you do Not get Backlit!!?? Satechi Nailed it for a very reasonable price. Lots of adjustment on the backlit and the space grey is perfect. All their products are beautifully designed and well built. Quality craftsmanship will last and that's why it deserves 5 Stars. 5 |

This keyboard is the best! I still like wired connections and the keyboards for Mac Books are all wireless. I wanted something as close as possible, since that was what I was used to. This Satechi is it! Very quiet, similar touch and feel. The first one I had worked very well for a couple of years, till I spilled my tea all over my desk a few weeks ago. I am so grateful this Satechi is still available and I could get a new one! And so grateful to the B&H salesman who suggested it in the first place! 5 |

old Apple keyboard bit the dust and replaced with this Satechi - wonderful backlights! This lets the keyboard be used in any room light conditions. 5 |

The Satechi Slim X2 keyboard has many pluses and few drawbacks. I got the Satechi keyboard to compare with my old Apple keyboard and I won't go back. This keyboard has a numeric keypad but has less of a footprint. Reaching for the numbers is more efficient. I had to reach for the numbers on the Apple keyboard. The backlit feature is convenient but why didn't Apple make it for standalone keyboards? Others seemed concerned about the battery drain using backlighting, but I haven't had it long enough to notice a difference. The feature I like best is pairing four external bluetooth devices. I can switch from writing Word documents on the MBP to texting on my iPhone . No lagging. Some others complain about the tactile squishing of the keyboard. I like the feel and sound. Despite the wedge shape of the keyboard, lifting it is like moving a frying pan--you need to find a place to grip. But that also is testament to the solid build. Use the 3M rubber feet that come in the box. It raises the back of the keyboard to a comfortable height. And it's easier to lift it off the desk. The $79.99 price makes it a bargain. The Apple Keyboard is going on the shelf with my old MBP. 5 |

Read the fine print. This uses Bluetooth LE, and that requires an iPad3 or better. After wondering why it didn't work with either iPad2 here, I found that tidbit (which I had missed) in the fine print, hemmed, hawed, and opted to upgrade the iPad side of the system. It is a quality product, which on the one hand seems quite pricey for what is effectively a 2 button bluetooth keyboard, but on the other hand is much better made than whatever I might kludge up from a cheaper bluetooth keyboard with many more keys. The keys are lit, soft, and silent, and the device is considerably more affordable than some others in its niche - and with the keys on top, not over the edge, it works fine on carpets (some reviews indicate that is a weakness of some competing devices.) For hands-free page turning it really is ideal. Intended for foot operation, it is a bit larger than you'd expect from the pictures. 5 |
