Scanner Vs Digital Camera

Great little scanner - very fast! We are going to an all digital office, and this fits the bill nicely!

I use it as a back up for my digital camera.

I bought this scanner to clean up a long overdue project of converting our family photos into a digital format. So far, I have converted approximately 1,500+ files...probably another 5,000 to go. The Epson V600 comes pretty much ready to go. You only need to install the driver and plug in the cables. Everything else is basically on autopilot. I have converted old photos files and 35mm slides. The entire process is time consuming, but technically very easy to accomplish. The results were better than expected. As my camera equipment improved in the mid 70's, consequently the photos were of a much higher quality and produced better digital files. It goes without saying...photos lying around in a box are not going to be seen by very many family members. It is my intent to convert all of my old photos into digital files that can be burn onto an SD card and displayed on digital photo albums. Great Christmas gifts. I did not shop around a great deal to compare this machine with others. I only went to Epson's web site to compare prices with B&H. I trust Epson products as high quality and B&H delivered on the best value. Thank you B&H. I would highly recommend this scanner for anyone interested in reviving the family treasure trove on old photos.

Nicely done on the PRO VS EVO. The PRO actually does have a full 1TB available, VS the EVO's 960GB after formatting.

I love this scanner for the quality of the scans it produces. Initially I thought it was very slow, but that improved dramatically when I abandoned the Silverlight software and switched to Vuescan. Better previews, much faster scanning, easier to use, and thus better images (it would also be nice if Plustek gave us Linux drivers, by the way). In any case, this machine has surprised me. Not just for its image quality but also because after a year in the tropics it shows no signs of dust, fungus, corrosion (sea air). It reliably performs its duties in my analog -- digital workflow and I hope it will continue to do so. A much better buy than a digital camera.

I like this little photo scanner. It works without complaint, delivering digital image files quickly, and it handles the original photo prints in a graceful manner. I have probably run a thousand or more prints through the scanner as I write this, and so far with no difficulties. I expect to run perhaps another ten thousand through it in the process of bringing all my images into digital format, to be stored (as I make the copies) in Lightroom, where they can be easily recovered or visited. The scanner also will do documents. I have only done one of these. I did try storing the scanned document in Word format and that worked. The footprint of the scanner on my desk is small, which is good, although I do not intend to keep it on my desk indefinitely. I highly recommend choosing this scanner if you have a bunch of prints you want to retain in digital format.

I am and artist and photographer. I bought this scanner to create digital images of my artwork. As with most new gadgets I struggled a little at first with the procedure for scanning objects of various dimensions and thicknesses. But a brief sms chat with support they got me on track quickly. It scans quickly and easily. Their software has plenty of adjustments for color, contrast and brightness and other things I’m not familiar with yet. I can get the colors fairly true but never perfect. But that is probably going to happen with anything when there are several pieces of hardware involved, ie scanner, monitor and computer. And only noticeable when compared side by side. If necessary I can usually achieve near perfection with color in Lightroom. Also it’s a little noisy but that’s not a problem for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This office scanner is awesome! I love that it scans so fast. It can scan 40 pages a minute and scans both sides at the same time. It has automatic paper feeder for 60 sheets. It's very quite. You can convert all your documents to a digital form which is what I really like about this scanner. I have already scanned all of my important documents and feel safer having them in digital format. I highly recommend this scanner!
