Scanning Program For Brother Printer

I had an 8-year old Brother printer that had bad connectivity issues in my home mesh WiFi environment. Then the time came that I had to replace all four toners, so instead I spent SIGNIFICANTLY less $$ to purchase this new machine complete with 6-months worth of toner (very light home office use; more scanning than printing). With this Canon I get modern WiFi to connect to our network. Everyone in the house can easily print from MacBooks, iPads & iPhones via WiFi. The Brother just couldn't find or stay connected to our network. Even plugging into the ethernet didn't solve that so the old printer could only be used w/ a USB cable. There are NONE of those issues with the Canon. Worked right out of the box like I expect from new tech. I'm impressed with the scanning software, too. Better than the Brother app, but YMMV So far very happy with this purchase. 5-stars. And as always, B&H makes tech buying simple. Plus next-day delivery over 100-miles from NYC. Flawless!! I absolutely love the speed of scanning. Printing quality is superb. I have owned nothing but Brother printer/scanner/fax/copier for over 15 plus years. This machine is a beast and very happy I purchased it.

This is my second time buying a Brother MFC line all-in-one and is my go to now. Being able to setup remote scanning where the printer emails you what you scan is a life safer. Add in the face that you can have three different types of paper on tap to print from makes this a true powerhouse!

I love my new scanner, I use it for scanning documents into a software program for cloud storage, it's efficient and easy to use.

This scanner has wonderful resolution at full power, however it will yield a bit of an unsavory file size (100+ mb's at least) so it's best to resize to a workable level in a photoshop program of your choice. I use this scanner with Vuescan instead of the supplied Silverfast software due to the lack of program support. I scan at the full 7200dpi selection and resize in CS2. The scanning holders flatten even the most curly of films but it's best to have some lint free gloves to handle the negatives as their not as easy to install as opposed to say the Epson film holders. They'll hold up to six frames so it's advised to either pick up some archive sheets or a few more film holders to keep them at the ready. Going from a lower resolution Epson flatbed to this scanner was quite a step up in quality. There is still room for improvement however not much more with such a small format. You will get great results from this scanner. It won't be fast but it will still be faster than most flatbeds at full resolution. Even with Vuescan you can still use the multiple exposure feature to help with scanning slides or the most dense of negatives. Overall worth the money and won't take up a whole lot of desktop space either. Was fairly surprised how small the unit was. At least worth your consideration.
