I do landscape, astro, and architecture photography and always need to switch between landscape and portrait. To make it wasier, I always buy an L bracket for my cameras so I don't have to keep adjusting my tripod once level. This fits snugly and does not move around, but it does get in the way of the flippy screen a little if it's tilted. It can open fine to the side though. Not a big deal for what I use it for, but you can always quickly remove the side part with the built-in screwdriver if you need to use it. On that note, the magnet that holds the screwdriver in is very strong so I have no worries about losing it. Best design and price I could find.

It is better than the iPhone app for both range and ease of control. It turns off (partially) to save the battery, but reactivates without requiring re-pairing. It runs on a pair of AA batteries, for many hours, and doesn't drain the batteries when not in use.
