Seagate 1Tb Solid State Hybrid Drive 2.5

I recently got a SanDisk 1TB SSD (Solid State Drive) and used a drive cloning device to clone my old 1TB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to the new SSD. It works wonders in my 15 year old computer! It really speeds up drive-related activities, perhaps as much as 3 or 4 times faster. I think my old HP laptop computer is either a SATA or SATA II type, so I suspect those with a SATA III system would see even better speed results when going from a HDD to a SSD. Gotta love it!

(Please note I did NOT say a solid state NAS drive.) Seagate NAS drives provide great storage capacity, in a standard-sized package, and they're designed for NAS. Highly recommend.

I am a biased user when it comes to hard disks and use only Seagate manufactured units. Both the 4TB and the 7200 rpm 2TB, 3.5 versions have performed well. These two units was my first 3.5 purchase since the appearance of laptops, other purchased units were 2.5, replaceable for internal drive if needed. The price of the 3.5 4TB unit, for an external drive, was why I did not buy a more expensive 2.5 drive. Mind you I do miss the performance of the old 2.5 models with 4 GB of solid state cache; not seen in the catalog recently.

I had an old 2.5 hard drive that I had salvaged out of a failed SeaGate enclosure. The problem with this hard drive was that it was an odd size, 15mm tall, so I was extremely limited in my choices for enclosures, and this seemed to be one of the only ones that could accommodate it. This little enclosure is great. It's constructed fully out of aluminum, no flimsy plasticky parts in here. Very easy to install, hard drive fits perfectly, and sits very secure inside the enclosure. I don't feel worried picking the thing up, throwing it into a bag and taking it place to place. When it's all set up I get very fast read and write speeds as promised, limited only by your hard drive RPM or your SSD rating.

Works with Seagate BarraCuda 1TB SATA HDD P/N 2GH172-021. The HDD was a 2nd drive in a laptop that died. The USB 3 SATA III drive adapter cable gave me the means to retrieve my data from the dead laptop.

My older Seagate FreeAgent 1TB drive is working fine, however, I thought I had better have a new one ready to go. What a great replacement when the time comes. Less than half the size in footprint and of course much faster. This drive is very portable. I was able to plug it in and use it without any fuss whatsover. I appreciate the color (red). Will be easy to identify.

I have been using a WD 1TB black for almost 4 years now. It's almost full so I needed another drive. That's when I came across this SeaGate 2TB 7200rpm drive that offering the same performance as the WB with twice the capacity and less price. Seemed a bit to good to be true. So I started googling about it for reviews and user feedbacks. It has got mixed reviews, some good some bad. But mostly good. So after 2 weeks I finally pulled the trigger on this. Once I installed it on my system, it didn't show up in Windows partition manager or in BIOS. I just booted into the Windows 10 installation drive and found it visible in the Windows installation drive selection window. Just formated it from there and restarted my PC and all it going great so far. Also noticed that this drive is a lot slimmer than the WD Black drive I have. S.M.A.R.T shows both the WD and Seagate at the same operating temps 33 degrees. It does make a slight noise when I boot up my PC, after that it's silent. I keep my PC powered off when I'm not using it. Using this drive as the second backup to my WD drive. Max fine transfer speed was shown as 200MBps. This is my first Seagate drive. Happy so far.

I use this to transport my Seagate 1TB slim hard drive, although it's a little bigger than what I needed. The Seagate is only 12mm thick so anything 13mm+ in thickness will work perfectly. With this I can transport my hard drive around with out being worried about damaging it.
