Seagate Firecuda 2Tb Solid State Hybrid Drive Review

I purchased this drive to replace two 2tb seagate firecuda drives and obtain some central storage capacity for my desktop. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this NAS drive was faster than both firecuda drives and it provided me the storage I needed. Installation was essentially plug and play and transferring existing files went smoothly. The price was excellent and as always B&H sets the standard for customer service.

(Please note I did NOT say a solid state NAS drive.) Seagate NAS drives provide great storage capacity, in a standard-sized package, and they're designed for NAS. Highly recommend.

Solid state drive worth it.

I transferred all my pictures and videos from all PCs drives and phones, there are thousands on thousands of them, very happy they can now all be in one place. The colorful LED lights make the gaming experience even more fun. My gaming library is huge and I needed a safe place to hold them all. Now I've got that! Easy to use with just plugging in and going. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently installed and have been using the new Seagate FireCuda 520N SSD and I have to say I am quite impressed. To start off with, it was packaged nice and tight in an antistatic bag with bubble wrap. It is very small and compact with no visual defects at all. Installation does require a lot of skill, even the lowest of tech savvy can search a youtube tutorial and find it easily installed into any of its applications. Once installed the formatting was quick and the drive was ready to use. With an active transfer speed of 2.32 Gbps all my files were transferred over with ease. The FireCuda 520N has been operating for a couple days now and I firmly see how this is a superior PCIe SSD for all applications.

excellent little solid state drive - and powerful

I purchased this hard drive to replace a 2TB Seagate Barracuda drive, which was working well but becoming filled with my photos. After copying all the files over, the new 4TB drive works well too. I installed it in my PC as a regular drive, not in some form of backup configuration as mentioned in the description. I purchased this particular unit because it has a very MTBF (mean time between failure) score. The only negative is I can hear the heads clicking as they change position, but the sound is not loud enough to bother me.
