Seagate Solid State Hard Disk Drive

The hard drive in my Dell 620 (Seagate ST31000524AS) was failing ... causing slow operation and repeatedly throwing reports of disk errors, bad sectors, etc. despite my attempts at repair using a variety of programs. After finally getting a successful disk image from the original drive using Macrium Reflect, I swapped the drives and loaded the disk image onto this replacement. On restart my PC booted right up from this drive and it's been running like new since.

I used this drive to clone a laptop hard drive to a solid state drive. Worked well.

(Please note I did NOT say a solid state NAS drive.) Seagate NAS drives provide great storage capacity, in a standard-sized package, and they're designed for NAS. Highly recommend.

I use this hard drive as a backup to another identical Seagate.

Bought this as an upgrade to another portable hard drive I have for when I'm shooting on the road. It's super fast and I don't have to worry about a spinning disk since it's solid state. Also, being solid state it seems to draw less power from my laptop. The biggest plus is the extra speed though. Great little hard drive

The solid state hard drive fit in it perfect. I did have to alter the mounting pin areas in the sides though, so the unit would fit in the case. I used a Dremel tool to grind out the four areas, where the pins engage, so the whole unit could slide into the case.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just used this to replace an old hard drive on my old laptop and because it's solid state I was able to breathe new life into a ten year old piece of hardware! Definitely get one if you don't want to upgrade to a new model of laptop just yet! Obviously it's a little small if you wanna use it on a desktop, but it's fine on a laptop
