We are using a flash drive to store and playback videos on a portable projector. I tried with a USB 3.0 Flash Drive, thinking the newer version was better. But the projector had a different idea. I learned from the professionals at B+H that this unit requires an older USB 2.0 Flash Drive. I never would have thought of that but sure enough, when I used this Verbatim 64G Ergo USB 2.0, the projector recognized the videos and played them flawlessly. 5 |

This case is a perfect fit for my Seagate portable drive. It's small but has room for a USB cable. It's hard sided so it provides good shock resistance and has a zipper so it won't accidentally pop open. Priced at under $10 it's a no-brainer for my 4 terrabyte Seagate portable drive. 5 |

I was considering a SSD, but at less than $200 for 5 TB this is really good value. It is a Seagate drive. Great interface and the perfect storage for Time Machine. It is the size of a cigarette pack. Included cables are USB C to USB C and USB C to USB A. The data rate for a USB A connection is very low but who cares for a backup? It is USB and it operates off your computer's power. It would also would be great for portable video storage in the field as it is ruggedized. 5 |

I connect the Passport 2TB via a USB3.0 Hub to one of the ports on my laptop. I backup the laptop internal drive and a Seagate 0.5T external drive connected to a USB2.0 Hub on my other laptop port using the WD Smartware that came with the Passport. I had some flakiness caused by USB connected devices that seems to have been resolved by updating the drivers on the USB hubs and the Seagate. So, as far as I can tell, no problems have been caused by the Passport. 5 |

As far as external drives go, this is the best one I've had. It's reliable, feels durable, and connects via USB-C. After two bad experiences with Western Digital drives, I'm staying with Seagate/LaCie. Both this drive and my 500GB Seagate external HDD are my daily drivers, and I've yet to experience any data reading/writing problems. There's just one quirk with this drive. When I connect to my MacBook using the USB Type-C-to-Type-C cable, the drive will start to disconnect itself at semi-regular intervals after a few minutes. This only happens on my Mac; my PC laptop is immune to this problem. I reached out to LaCie, and they recommended trying a different cable. When I connect with the USB Type-A-to-Type-C cable, the problem goes away. I assume it's either just the cable or my computer, but I figured I might as well throw that experience out there. Overall, all I have to say is: Don't regret buying cheap crap. Just get a LaCie Rugged drive and you won't have to worry about losing anything. 5 |
