Security Camera Record To Nas

Great quality on the videos and plenty of memory to record in my security camera. 5 |

I picked up this camera to point outside through a window from inside. I've tried a few other cameras before (Waze and Tapo, among others) but none of them checked all the boxes for me. I initially was looking for cameras that would record to my Synology NAS, but of the ones that would record natively to my NAS, none of them has the quality I was looking for. Since I have recently replaced my router and switch with Ubiquiti gear, I decided to give the Ubiquiti camera a shot. I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I like these cameras. First, the setup was a breeze. The app on iOS (iPhone and iPad) are excellent. The motion sensing was simple to setup and configure the alerts for (though I could only get the geofencing to work when I had recently opened the Protect app). To get the camera to show a good picture through the window at night, I had to disable the LED for the night vision because it cause a glare off the Window. I'm pretty sure I would get better night vision if I didn't have it going through the window, but for my situation, I can't have the camera outside, so this was the best option available. Bottom line, if I need another camera, I'll be looking at this one or one of Ubuiquiti's other cameras first. 5 |

I'm not sure how much this helps becasue I bought it along with a new NAS, but I'm guessing it improves performance, and I like the security of ECC. It might be a little more than 3rd party modules, but I like knowing that it will work and is backed up by Synology. Super easy to install. 5 |

The Synology RT2600AC was well reviewed on SmallNetBuilder. Already having a positive experience with Synology NAS I decided to give this relative newcomer to routers a chance to replace a failing ASUS RT-N66U. The Synology router has been running for two weeks with 24 clients, mostly Internet access and some HD (but not 4K) streaming. Positives: - Wi-fi range and throughput are beyond satisfactory. Router is on lower level in one corner of house. Two stories above on the opposite corner the signal strength and throughput is excellent, despite having to travel through multiple walls, HVAC system, plumbing and a dozen electrical circuits. - 2.4-to-5Ghz switching has been seamless. Router does a good job transferring connections to the optimal band. - Even with the Intrusion Detection turned on, there are no network performance issues (as others have reported). - If you are familiar with Synology DSM for their NAS line, the router SRM is easy to navigate, update and install packages. - Good visual reporting. Easy to determine which clients and what software is consuming most/least bandwidth. - Router software and settings are security focused. Accounts disabled by default. Easy to lock down individual clients. Good logging. Includes a basic Intrusion Detection service (which takes the place of a separate hardware/service typically needed). Easy to setup alerts. Synology appears to be taking patching seriously, with a set of updates each of the past few months. Built-in security check to advise of settings that are not optimal for security. - While not the least expensive wireless router out there, the value is solid for the performance and feature set. Cons: - Need USB thumb drive for logging; maximum 2GB of logs. - SRM is still maturing. The GUI is inconsistent, sometimes allowing sorting or editing, other time not-- for the same fields. Takes a longer time to restart than other systems. Nothing bug, but a few edges do need polishing. 5 |

I bought this to replace my NAS so I could record 24/7 on a of my cameras with out purchasing additional licenses and taxing my NAS hardware to the point of not functioning. So far it has performed wonderfully. The first 24 hrs was a little underwhelming and I was worried I would regret the purchase, but once I got everything operating how I wanted it and got used to the interface and remote interface it had lived up to my expectations. Highly recommend this unit for hikvision cameras AND 3rd party cameras. Works great with wifi connected cams as well. 5 |

Installed this in an older Core i7 tower to record security cameras with TrueNAS. After running exclusively SSDs for so long, this is a noisy drive, but it's working very well. Several high-bitrate cameras are recording to it simultaneously without write issues. It struggles to read the recorded data while it continues to record the camera feeds, but that's expected given the number of cameras I'm sending to a single drive right now. 5 |

This is my favorite nas to date. It runs all Plex flawlessly, install was very simple. Drive setup and raid setup very easy. This has Hardware raid, far more stable then other companies NAS boxes. Best feature I have found is the security camera software add on. I have roelink camera installed around my house, this software on the NAS found and connected to all and started recording motion with very minimal setup. High recommend can't beat the feature vs cost on this guy. 5 |
