I used to make my own accessory arm with brackets from Home Depot! I eventually got an arca swiss mount bar/bracket but it was very limited and looked DIY. This one is really functional with a great build quality. Its not heavy but its not light. It even comes with a carry case. You can mount accessories, cameras or both. You could mount the cameras directly on top with movement but I would still recommend using ball heads for a quicker release and adjustments. I am using this PoE for a home security system with Vivotek IP8335H 720P HD Cameras. It was very esatly to install, just hooked up the network from my 4 port router to port 8 of the switch, and attached my 4 cameras to the 4 ports that supply PoE and off I went!! It has a total of 8 ports, however 1 port must be used to supply the network to the unit, then there are 4 with PoE capability and that leaves 3 regular ethernet ports. Nice switch for the price. So far I havent found any fault with this item.
