Sennheiser 412 Mono Single Headphone

In my first review I said that only having a mono channel was a serious design flaw in this system. Unfortunately, I displayed my ignorance of professional audio. Using my prior Sennheiser systems, I thought that my lav mic was stereo and that therefore I was getting a stereo signal. I was wrong. It is a mono lav mic that Sennheiser converts to a left and right channel (or a single mono channel to sound like stereo) and then I hear stereo. But this happens in the background so my lack of audio knowledge thought it was a stereo signal that I saw on my video editor and/or my DAW. Sony does the same thing; it creates a single mono track for each of the two (or more) transmitters and leaves it up me as the user to determine how I want to change the signal to a left and right track. I use Fairlight in DaVinci Resolve and there are three very easy and quick ways to convert the single mono channel to stereo or a L/R mono channel. If you don't know how to do this, check out many videos on YT. Hope this helps someone. I pulled out a few hairs figuring this out with the help of the Pro Audio guys at B&H - super big shoutout to them! As a result of my ignorance I've upgraded my review to 5 stars - and another 5 for the B&H Pro Audio guys

It's been a few years since being in need of a new headphone amp. I've owned an older version of a Rolls headphone amp and I really liked it for my professional recording studio... so much so that I bought 4 of them for all my sound rooms. It's been several years since I left the recording industry but over the last year I've been podcasting with some friends of mine and I'm getting my new (tiny) home studio up while upgrading equipment when I have the extra cash to do so. I ran across this beauty that has everything I need, plus more! This is a major step up from the ones I owned in the early 90's. The biggest plus and difference is being able to use other 1/4 or 1/8 jack on the front. It saves me from making sure I have the correct adapter if someone brings his or her own headphones or earbuds. It also has the LINK/JOIN capability of which I have used on previous models and comes in super handy if daisy chaining more than one box together. Works in either mono or stereo. You can't pan but that's not really the purpose for which this was designed. If you need more individual control as opposed to a stereo or mono headphone signal, I'd suggest buying a small 4 channel mixer. It's quiet and discrete, I don't hear any extra added component hum or buzz even when linking two or more boxes. It's not having to drive a bunch of wattage so the unit itself doesn't radiate any measurable heat to the touch. My signal chain: I have my Soundcraft Signature 12MTK headphone out (stereo) TRS 1/4 to 1/4 split L/R into the headphone amp. I drive the Soundcraft headphone out gain about three-quarters to full. The headphone amp takes care of the rest of the gain. No hesitation in purchasing another one of these. No hesitation in recommending this headphone amp to others. I've owned other and less expensive headphone amps but none of them have all the functionality and solid workhorse longevity as the Roll RA53B.

Ill first start by saying that this amplifier has a nice sturdy metal build. While there are many uses for this device I am using it along side my mixer board. Sometimes I need an extra headphone out and this works well. I just took a long 1/4 cable and plugged it into one of my mono outs and then into this Polsen amplifier. Since it is a mono source you can simply move the internal switch from stereo to mono. That way you can have sound in both of your headphones. So far it works great for the way that I'm using it and its plenty loud. Just be careful when sliding the case back on as you can accidentally pinch some exposed wires that hang near the battery tray. The only thing I have not tested is how long the batteries will last as you will need batteries to operate it. This would be a great option for live performers or someone like me who just needed an extra headphone out. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

I do upscalled in home studio recordings. For my artist headphone mixes I send out a mono signal down the TS return of my snake going into the "studio proper". Then I patch into the presonus hp4 from the snake and hit the handy Mono button and I'm able to maximize quality of my headphone mixes. When using cheaper boxes you get signal on only one side of the artists headphones due to my current set up. I think the mono flip adds a ton of utility to this headphone box. Get what ya pay for.

I needed a simple FM non-stereo radio which could run on AC and had a mono headphone jack. This radio does exactly what I need.

This works with my Sennheiser G3 ew100 as a replacement to the one that came with it.This balanced cable wont work when plugged straight into a y adapter for putting two inputs together, separated by Left and Right. It requires a mono to mono 1/8 inch female to 1/8 inch male to separate the out of phase signal. I found the right adapter at @.

I have used this mixer for two years now as a football/ music announcer. The stadium I use it at is mono. I attach two iPods, a Sennheiser microphone, and Sennheiser HMD-281-13 (Yes, I announce football/basketball/soccer games). The Yamaha works well for what I use it for(I connect to preamplifier/amplifier in press booth). it works well since I am announcing, setting up music, etc., all at once. I hopes this helps. Enjoy.

I use this adapter to connect a mono Sennheiser shotgun mic (w/3.5 mm jack) to my new video camera with XLR audio inputs. It fits snugly on both ends and has been noise free in use.

I use this on a rig (various configurations) with a GH3 and a Sennheiser wireless lavalier kit, to run the 3.5mm output of the Senny receiver to a Rode mini to XLR adapter (also essential!) and into my juicedLink RA222 preamp. It's essential to have a mono to mono plug for this purpose -- I've used a stereo cable for lack of a mono one and it only works if it's pushed halfway in, which wiggles into the wrong position when running and gunning -- and it's extremely hard to find a mono mini cable that is also shorter than 3 feet. The threaded end on this Sennheiser cable is also useful to make sure one doesn't lose the connection. It would be nice if they sold a version that was threaded at both ends, in case someone had the ability to screw in at both ends.Anyway, it's just a cable, but if it makes the difference between getting audio and not getting audio, it can be as important as any other part of your setup. I should probably buy another one to put aside just in case the first one gets misplaced or damaged. If you use a Sennheiser EW100 G3 or anything like that, and your kit is missing one of these, there's no question you need this.

I have this, as well as the 'mono' single-channel, on all my Electro-Vioce RE20 microphones. It is simply the best performer, generating almost no-noise from the very low output microphones. Most impressive!
