Set Skype To Play Sound Through Computer Speakers

Never any echo even if I turn the speakers up loud. The speakers plug directly into the headphone output jack on the back of the microphone. When I plugged the USB cable into my computer WinXP automatically recognized it as an external audio device and all sounds play through the speakers connected to the mic. Not just sounds from Skype, but also if I play music or watch a video or something. Sound quality is better than my laptop's internal sound card by a mile. Works spectacularly well with Skype. If you need a mic for your PC to do audio conferences cause you work at home like me, this is the one you need. Works better than anything else out there, and I tried a bunch of options. I actually place the mic on the other end of the room so that it doesn't pick up my keyboard or other sounds during conference calls and others can still hear me loud and clear on the other end.

Set this up with my Rega P2 turntable and JPW Gold monitor speakers. The speakers (22 years in use) sound like they've had new life breathed into them. Incredible sound on all the streaming platforms. As the P2 doesn't have its own preamp I had to add one to the set up. Entry level Rega mini does the job nicely. It's thrilling to be able to play vinyl on such a responsive system, and fantastic to be able to listen to vinyl in other rooms (I have Play 1 in kitchen and bedroom). It feels like a proper audio upgrade throughout the house. Next step will probably involve setting up a Play 5 in the kitchen when my budget permits. Amp is beautifully designed and easy enough to set up. Happy to recommend.

I was amazed at the sound coming out of these very affordable speakers. Plug 'n' Play on my old Win 7 computer. I didn't know the internet could carry such a wide spectrum of sound.

After listening to my two Play 5's set up as a pair for the last two weeks, I decided to turn on my old Yamaha amp with Polk speakers. I kid you not... I thought there was something wrong with them. Adjusted the tone controls and nope, they just sound horrible compared to the Play 5. My Polks are literally missing about 30% of the sounds that the Play 5's put out. Even my said the old speakers sound horrible. Thank you Sonos engineers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was easy to set up, just plug and play. I connected this to my home sound system so I could stream music from my phone through our built-in surround sound speakers in the house. Works like a charm! It is great to use anywhere you want to play your music to speakers. Definitely recommend!

I bought these speakers to replace an ancient set of Labtec USB computer speakers. Specs alone told me they would sound vastly superior to those older speakers and they do. For the small room and relatively low volume levels that I use, they have power and range that is well in excess of what's needed. The resulting sound is smooth, well-balanced from bass through mid-range to treble and free of distortion. What marked these speakers out from the competition were the many different inputs available, in particular the two Toslink optical inputs to a built-in DAC that I use for the two separate desktops on my computer desk. These bypassed the mild hum problems that my tangle of wires and dodgy grounding induced in any analog speaker that I tried, leaving me with a very high quality sound. Very satisfied.

Over the course of 40 years I have had the best equipment to play my music and create a home theater medium for my home theater. I've always been frustrated with managing my equipment (amps, pre-amps, turn tables, disc players, wired speakers, etc.) and wires (power wires, speaker wires, network wires, etc.). With the advent of technology, I have been patiently waiting for a wireless system that can deliver superior sound without the constraints of limited bluetooth distance nor the assistance of an additional amp to power the speakers. Finally...finally, I have what I have always wanted! Superior sound delivered over WIFI! What's even better and more impressive is that the SONOS interface uses mesh wifi to create a dedicated network for itself over your existing network so you are never interrupted with lag. Hugely important! Wow, the sound is amazing, the ease of managing the system is very simple, the choices of music is limitless, and the app interface is friendly in a logically user intuitive design. It is a complete well thought out turnkey system. I currently have four Play:5's in three separate rooms and just ordered another Play:5 for the kitchen, a PlayBar for the living room, and a SUB to complete my home theater design. The app interface allows my to play speakers individually or group them together so I can either fill the house with music or let the family play their own thing in their room of choice. My children use the alarm function in their room to wake in the morning for school, my wife creates playlists for everyone, and I happily fill the house with music when I have my own time. If you're thinking of getting the Play:1 or Play:3, you have to listen to the better sound on the Play:5. If budget is an issue, just wait a little longer to save for your purchase because most likely you'll step-up and buy the Play:5 in the future. If you're thinking of getting pair of Play:1's or Play:3's for a room, I find that one Play:5 will do!
