I own three monoculars: a Vertex 10x25, a Leica 8x20, and this Opticron 10x42. The Vertex is the most rugged and good for a rocky hike; the Leica and Opticron are significantly clearer and sharper, though. The Opticron is the easiest to use because of its wider field of view, but is bigger and heavier (though still much more portable than an optically equivalent pair of binoculars--I always prefer monoculars for that reason). The clarity and magnification make it ideal for looking at more distant objects, such as waterfowl far from shore. 5 |
