Similarities Of Woodwind And Brass Instruments

This mic sounds very nice for vocals, plucked string instruments, and woodwind instruments (at least that's what I've tried it on). I highly recommend it!

When the brass, woodwind and large percussion orchestra filled the 600 seat auditorium with raucous music for Honegger's King David, the speaking parts within our 100 member community chorus didn't stand a chance of being heard. All our funds had been spent on orchestra and soloists. But the hall had a sound system, and I had a guiet old field mixer. I also had experience with a predecessor of the OLM-10. I took a chance and ordered six. For less than $150, they delivered excellent sound from voices among the singers. The omnidirectional pattern made for evenness with untrained performers. Their self-powering and 20' cords made hook-up very easy. Congratulations Pearstone!

This is a work horse mic used by every sound engineer to record any type of instruments:brass, percussion, etc.

I use this mic to record string and wind (brass mostly) instruments.  The different patterns make it effective in a variety of spaces depending on whether you want to reject other sounds or include reflections.  Versatile and great sound quality.

I had seen comparisons between this lens and the Leica 35mm Summicron SL (non-APO), and the similarities in IQ led me to pick up this lens and its 50mm f/1.8 sibling. Both lenses are tack sharp, lightweight, and though I didn't test the weather/dust sealing, I trust them to be reliable on that front. Mounted on my SL2-S, this lens didn't disappoint when shooting on the go. It focused quickly and accurately. If I had to complain about something it would be the lack of an aperture control on the lens, but that's not a necessity, just a wish. I love this lens, and plan on adding all the LUMIX S f/1.8 primes to my kit to use with my Leica SL cameras.

This lens deserves all the accolades from reviewers. It is my third Zeiss Batis lens and the similarities in image rendering are clear when viewing images straight out of the camera on a 27 5K display. Corner to corner sharpness and contrast are superb. The lens size is also a pleasant surprise compared to other options for the focal length that include autofocus, which on this lens is fast and precise. As other reviewers have noted, a third-party lens cap is a must-have.

Home recording of woodwind horns is a balance of price and performance. This mic brings up the standard without breaking the budget. The bad news is the rest of the links in the signal change will need an upgrade for us to truly enjoy the benefits of this exciting new microphone.

Use these to get stereo recordings of live shows: Mariachis, Woodwind quintets, Blues duos, Brass bands, etc. They work really well with a Tascam DR100 digital recorder with its XLR mic inputs. Edit with Audacity and save as wav files. So far, so great.
