I'm delighted with the Apple USB SuperDrive. My newer Mac doesn't have a DVD slot, but the SuperDrive makes it really easy to add. Once added, the drive restores the ability to read or write DVDs again.

I purchased this optical drive to use with a new iMac 5K 27-inch Retina (2017) machine. While there were less expensive third party USB optical drives available for the Mac, I elected to purchase the Apple product to eliminate any possible compatibility issues. The Apple SuperDrive works very quietly with no surprises. There is no clunky tray to load. Simply partially insert a CD or DVD into the slot on the SuperDrive and the drive pulls it the rest of the way into the unit. When you eject the device from the Mac desktop, the SuperDrive gently pushes the CD or DVD out so it can then be easily removed. A dust seal keeps dust from entering the media insertion slot of the drive. Please note that the attached USB cable on the SuperDrive is short: only about a foot long. This is not an issue when using it with the iMac, but your situation may be different.

Used as an external/portable CD/DVD player/burner for several machines. Is instantly recognized by Windows 7 and is available for use in a matter of a few seconds after being plugged in. It needs two USB ports but no other external power source.

I have a one-year-old CD/DVD portable player and I wear hearing aids so I must use headphones when I use the device. However, the output of the player coupled with the weak output of my headphones was anemic. I decided to splurge and buy these and I can honestly say this is the best investment in ME that I've made in a long time. The description of this SONY MDR 7506 says it will provide a louder output than the less expensive headphones that I had been using, and the ad was correct. Instead of turning up the CD/DVD player all the way up and having to strain to hear much, I can now comfortably listen with the player output at half its output. This was a recommended accessory for an RCA portable TV/DVD player. Fits very well. Well made for the money. It also fits my ipad. A good general purpose case.

I used this to connect a portable DVD player to our television. For some reason, an ordinary 3-connector, male-to-male RCA cable did not work. However, when I used this red/white audio-only cable alongside a separate yellow video-only cable, everything worked just fine.

I bought this for my portable DVD player and very glad I did. This makes carrying my DVD player very simple and safe from bumps when it is on the floor of my car. My player fits in the sleeve very easy and has a great zipper and a two strap handle that will last.
