Sm57 Mic Acoustic Guitar

Using this mic for recording acoustic guitar while recording voice with an SM57. Very little vocal bleed through on the e70 with the cardioid capsule. The e70 does a nice job of representing the guitar. For $ getting a sound this clean and true is a steal.

This is the upgraded version of the sm57; more dynamics, more detail. Generally, the sm57 are used to capture acoustic or electric guitar and drums. I found out that the Beta 57A does an excellent job on my voice, and just had to buy one for my self. Great value for the money.

I vacillated over which mic I should buy to pair up with my acoustic guitar and my Fender Acoustic Junior amp. This turned out to be ideal.

I bought this mic mostly for voice recording, but it also sounds great with my acoustic guitar.

This is just the budget mic I was looking for to pair with a sm57 when mic'ing my guitar amp. The bass response really fattens up the recorded tone when paired with the mid forward sm57. Add an AT2020 for as a room mic for top end and ambience and you can record some pretty solid guitar tracks.

So far I've only used this mic on a guitar cab, but I have to say it does an awesome job with that. I've compared it with an SM57 an an e609 and it gets better tone than both of them. I'm excited to try it on other applications.

I bought this mic to record electric guitar and it works exceedingly well for that purpose in both clean channel and overdrive. The mic is a dynamic that works best with pre-amps that have a normal 1.5K to 2K input impedance which makes it useful with a wide array of modern audio equipment. (I also use a Shure SM57 and a Shure SM7B for electric guitar and they work best with pre-amps that offer a lower input impedance such as 500 ohms.) The sonic characteristic of the Heil PR20 sits between the SM57 and the SM7B. The Heil has a rich low end, a slightly forward mid range and a very smooth top end.

Burned out on SM57's for guitar micing. I heard nothing but good things about this mic and hasn't disappointed. Nice chunky balanced sound. Using it live to run my Suhr Badger through the PA.

Great improvement over my standard SM57 on guitar amps.
