This little external SSD worked out perfect for my needs. I've just started using it and so far so good! The price was great too, found it here less than Amazon and other various stores (thanks to my Ibotta app.)

I found it impossible to understand the external hard drive descriptions and specs on vendor websites and Amazon, and everything was pushing toward SSDs, which I already own, but I wanted this kind in addition, so I did what I usually do: contacted the pros at B&H and they helped me pick this model. It's Mac-ready, so no need to fiddle; just plug it in and connect to the laptop and open Time-Machine and that's it! So far, I'm a very happy customer.

This is a nice little external hard drive I use for data backup and transferring large files between computers. No external power is required which makes it very convenient, and it runs completely silent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a number of computers, from laptops to desktops, old and new, mostly on the Windows 10 platform. I needed a powered USB port hub to 1) increase the number of ports available and 2) to be able to support the power requirements of the peripherals and accessories that I attached to the computer. For example, I have a tablet that I use that is attached to my computer via USB, however, while I am using the tablet it loses its charge and the computer not able to provide enough power to re-charge it. Another example is to provide enough power to external harddrives. I do a lot of programming and technical work on my computers that I have different accessories attched to them - mouse, keyboards, external microphone, web and DSLR camera, smart phones/tablets, CD/DVD reader/burner, bluetooth and WiFi dongles, flash drives, etc. I have other USB port hubs that do not have the external power and it cannot support all the accessories I attached to them.

I have used Glyph hard drives for many years with my iMacs. Currently, I own about 6 of them to back up my computers and to use as external hard drives for video and file storage. I have found them to be very dependable and at a reasonable cost. I especially like the newer rubberized casings that make them rugged and solidly stackable.

Had one for a few years, decided to order a second to use with various computers basically to connect external CD/DVD reader burners. This reliably works with an LG self-loading DVD, Apple super disc, Asus DVD devices all work perfectly with these connected. Top transfer speed 5GB/Sec.
