Small Microwave Safe Spout Bowl
Martin J | 2024-09-12 09:55:17 |
I use a large mixing bowl, filled with filtered water. I use the microwave to warm the water, 2-3 minutes, and mix about half the powder. Repeat for the remaining powder. Let it cool over night. 5 |

I like how it can be regenerated using a microwave oven. 5 |

I wrote a previous review, which stands, but I want to add one small addition, which I have found makes the tripod even better. Being a bowl design, if you mount a ball head on top of the base, it will of course be unable to be raised to clear any obstrucitons, which are generally found it you switch to portrait orientation (unless you use a L-bracket). If, like me, you like to keep ultra light, and use a small, short ballead (in my case manfrotto compact) then the camera mounting foot and possibly even the camera, will actually be obstructed by the legs but most likely the larger/wider base of the bowl itself. You can solve this almost completely with a larger, taller and heaver ballhead, but if you are RC2 plate design, the relase trigger may still interfere slightly, especially in 90 degree vertical. To solve this, you could purchase an extension tube, but I believe the best option is the Acratech 1045 Tripod Head Riser 1 inch version. Or the heavier 2 version. This looks great, is light, and will give just the clearance needed, and keep the tripod very stable. One reason I brought this tripod is it is well know the non-centre column tripods like this are the most vibration free, so adding only 1 more to the 'column height' keeps the design vibration free. A great tripod, that I always enjoy in the field. 5 |

I bought this to use with a small HD camcorder (Canon XA10) on carbon fiber legs (Feisol) with a fluid head (Manfrotto 701HDV). I have to have a lightweight system for travel, and this really shaved the weight off of a full bowl system. Leveling is fast and easy, and locks in rock-solid once in place. The bubble is bright and easy to see. I found it to have plenty of range of motion shooting outside on uneven ground. It worked well and saved me a lot of leveling adjustment time. My only annoyance is that it can sometimes be hard to find the adjustment knob in fast setups, not something you can do much about with a leveler that isn't a full bowl system. I may try putting red fingernail polish on the knob to make it easily visible. Beautifully constructed, and highly recommended. 5 |

I used this to mount my 75mm Manfrotto head to a small portable jib with a 100mm bowl. It does the trick. It is a loose fit on the bowl and although they have added 3 holes to secure it there is nothing to screw it down to in my case. When it's in use it doesn't matter, and if I start to worry about losing it I might just tack it down with a couple drops of super glue. 5 |

Working great so far. They seem sturdy, they're nice and deep, and the pour spout is useful. 5 |

Use it for measuring film developing chemicals. Spout angle is very helpful. 5 |
