Small Powered Speakers To Check Mixes Like Computer

2024-09-02 01:32:59

I replaced my passive Logitech computer speakers with a pair of the Audioengine A2+ speakers and a small 6.5 powered subwoofer. This is a great combination for listening to streaming videos and music in my small office. I use the USB input for the signal from my computer and the RCA outputs to send a signal to the powered subwoofer (Acoustic Audio PSW-6 purchased separately). Shown in the pictures on the Audioengine DS1 stands. The only con is the volume knob is on the back. I would purchase them again.

I just wanna play mixes for fun and friends. Speakers get loud enough for small gatherings. The price is really great, and the unit is responsive and doesn't feel slow. The product itself feels very high quality, only issue is that the platter came off, but after using gorilla glue it fixed it.

I'm a professional filmscoring musician who has a great home studio set-up with great monitors. I bought these small Genelec 8010's for a more portable, laptop-based rig I can take with me when I go somewhere for awhile but want to continue working. I assumed I'd be compromising significantly with small speakers, but figured I'd always do final mixes at home. While I'll probably still do that, these these 8010s are really great. They sound great, are fun to work on, and do allow thoughtful mixing decisions. I've even, on occasion, listened to mixes on these that were done on my home studio set-up and made changes that improved the mix in very meaningful ways. In short, I highly recommend these as the most truly professional, small, lightweight speakers I've heard.

I am using these as computer speakers because I wanted powered speakers so I didn't have to purchase an amp/receiver. Most computer speakers have pretty sorry sound quality. These have great sound quality and I use them for music, games, and video conferencing. I got an Maudio hub to connect them easily.

I was having difficulty understanding conversations with my stereo/powered woofer computer speakers so I thought a cheap pair of speakers might produce a brighter sound. I was right! These solved my problem and I can now hear voices much more clearly.

These speakers were purchased to provide better sound for small audio system in our basement rec room.  They are being powered by a well cared for Yamaha RX-396 which is rated at 50w x 2 @ 8 Ohms.  The Sony SS-CS5 is a 6 Ohm speaker and is completely at home with this modest amplification. These speakers have quite the bass output for their woofer size and although they lack a little mid-range detail and depth I cannot say anything bad about them given their price point.  My reference system is a set of Paradigm Studio 100s v5 powered by an Anthem 225 toroidal amp fed by a Bifrost Multibit DAC decoding full FLAC and--blah blah blah. These small speakers are a fantastic value for a simple inexpensive stereo set up.

Great way to add USB ports to any computer. It's small enough to stay out of the way and adds needed ports. Like fishing poles, you can never have enough ports,

You can't really go wrong with this set. You might read countless things like, I'll never go back to regular cans or Vastly improved my mixes and I forgot they were on my head, they replicate studio speakers that well. And these statements are all very true. There is certainly a heavy amount of marketing with these headphones. But, my God can you obtain such a clean mix with these. Will they replace my studio speakers entirely? No. But they are the best way to double check your mixes, no doubt. And it makes it so much easier to find tune EQ and adjust your mix. If you don't have quality studio speakers and a treated room and if these were all you had to go by, it would be acceptable. The only negative I would say about this set is that while the emulations of professional studios are fantastic, the headphones themselves could certainly be improved. While the bass reproductions work and they provide the data you need to make your adjustments in the mix, the bass is very muted and weak. Again, the necessary frequency reproductions are there but it needs more oomph. I think what the VSX system needs is just a higher ohm model with some higher quality bass drivers. Why not provide a premium edition? All in all, I don't think anyone could actually be disappointed with these.
