I bought this because it is compatible with Sachtler 100mm ball legs, and it fits as if made for them. (Note--it will not fit my old 75mm ball Sachtler legs which have different dimensions for clamping to the feet.) It's made of plastic but seems good enough to last if not handled carelessly. It could certainly be broken at the center three way hinge if it gets twisted hard beyond its intended range of motion. This can happen if you open or close the legs in a way that is well out of symmetry, but I know to avoid this. This weak link holds the true for similar spreaders by other brands including the light spreaders for Sachtler 75mm legs. I give five stars because it works well at a fraction of the price of any Sachtler brand spreader.
