My husband played a real piano & keyboards he was younger but hasn't played for years. He wanted to start again and debated between the KeyLab 88 MKII and a more traditional stand alone piano-type keyboard. He's so happy we went this route. He uses it with Logic Pro and feels the KeyLab offers the perfect amount of features without adding unnecessary things. He hasn't yet figured it all out, but it's great to sit down and play freely or to record using the software and create a song. The build is excellent, with a metal body and wood accents. The action of the key bed is excellent and is much closer to a real piano than non-weighted keys. The additional weight of the keys makes playing at different volume levels very easy. One complain that he had was the lack of documentation on how to set it up and integrate it with different DAWs, but Arturia's tech support is top notch and quickly replied with a long and detailed emailing showing step by step directions on how to set it up with Logic Pro. Plus, their website has a great FAQ section and detailed user manuals that cover how to use most of the keyboard's features. In addition to a great keyboard, the unit comes with some wonderful software. It includes Ableton Live Lite for those who don't already have a DAW. It also comes with Piano V/V2, which is a piano software add-on worth $249 by itself and Analog Lab, which is a collection of older (from the 80s I think), classic synthesizer sounds worth $199. So, the keyboard itself is a great item for the price, but when all the additional software is included, the KeyLab 88 MkII is a wonderful item.

I use this to connect my controller piano keyboard to my computer for Garageband and Logic. It's long enough to reach across the room. The cable is strong and the housing is thick enough to protect it well.

Remember to turn off the piano, plug it in and then turn on the piano to get sustain.

At the lowest price I could find for a controller keyboard, the Korg nanoKey2 is very impressive. It only has twenty-five keys, but the octave shift buttons allow you to change the octave up and down, giving reach to the full range of notes for electronic music. It has neat pitch bend, sustain, and vibrato buttons, too. It resembles a computer keyboard in the flatness and shape of the keys and is even smaller than a computer keyboard. It works great with my electronic music software. It even picks up musical accent (velocity); so the harder you press the keys, the louder it is, and the softer you press the keys, the quieter it is. The only thing that would make it better is if it had sounds of its own. However, it serves its purpose as a Musical Instrument Digital Interface controller well. It comes with a software code so you can download some electronic music programs from the Internet; so if you do not have music software already, you can get some to use with the nanoKey2. The cable that it comes with stays in the socket very tightly and it will not fall out so easily. This is good so it will not disconnect on accident. Overall, the Korg nanoKey2 is a good buy for being able to listen to, experiment with, and record sounds in audio software without having to use the computer mouse and computer keyboard all the time to program commands and test out sounds. It is light-weight and its slim-line design is very convenient and saves space. It would be good for use with a laptop on the go. I find it a nice addition to my desktop home studio. It is perfect in function for its size. Very neat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having a piano already in the house, I was looking for a light portable keyboard that I could move around easily. Not only did I need it to be portable and light, but I needed it to sound good. The RockJam 88 Key Digital Piano Keyboard Piano with Full Size Semi-Weighted Keys fulfills all of those needs. This keyboard sounds good. It is the closest a keyboard can come to sounding like my upright piano without actually being a regular piano. The features are simple to use and the ability to connect to my iPad and use this in Garage Band is huge. My kids love composing their own songs with it. The sustain pedal works well, but I just wish it was weighted a little more. The RockJam 88 Key Digital Piano Keyboard Piano with Full Size Semi-Weighted Keys is a definite 10 in my book!
