Solid State Drive For Macbook Pro 2012 800Gb

This is my second WD 1 TB drive, and I use them to both store and backup photos from my MacBook Pro (with solid-state storage). Even with lots of RAW files, the transfer rate seems fast. It is small, and easily stored when not in use. There is nothing about this drive that I would change.

My 2012 MacBook Pro is now new again.

I'm using my drive as a archiving device. I had around 800gb of projects on my MacBook Pro and it was slowing it down. Now those projects are moved off my laptop and on to the Element drive. And my new workflow is when ever I need to work on a project I copy it off the element and on to the laptop. Then copy it back over to the Element once I'm done with the project. Overall this little drive if perfect for storing things that you hardly ever open. I'm going to be getting a few more later down the road for my music and stock videos. Plus the size of the drive is smaller than other drives.

Bought this to replace the optical drive with the stock 500GB drive that came with my 2012 macbook pro, stuck a 240G sandisk SSD in the original hard drive bay. works like it should only problem i had was a stripped one of the tiny screws getting the optical drive out, this has nothing to do with the product but should be know those little screws can be damaged easy so take your time!

Upgraded from a 2012 MacBook Pro with a dual core processor to the 2020 MacBook Air with a quad core. That plus having a SSD hard drive instead of a traditional hard drive has made using a Mac fun again. Ordering was easy and computer arrived via FedEx in 2 days.

I purchased this drive to upgrade a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro. It works as advertised. My machine boots to the desktop in 15 seconds; total load time (including startup apps) is 27 seconds. A HUGE improvement over a mechanical drive.

Solid state drive worth it.

This is my first MACBook. It is expensive and can not be upgraded after purchase - two big bummers. But it works flawlessly and has all the speed I was hoping for. I use it to create giant panoramas in Photoshop, starting with as many as 15 exposures. What took as much as 15 minutes to process now takes a few seconds. I have a lot of PSB files, gigantic. They save in less than a minute rather than 20. At home, I operate it clam shell style. I had no problem hooking the MACBook up to larger, calibrated screens, though I had to buy a boatload of converters. One way I could have saved money would have been to have purchased a much smaller solid state drive; maybe one TB. No solid state drive is big enough to hold all my photos. So, purchasing a conventional, inexpensive peripheral drive was necessary anyway. A harddrive that is configured for both PCs and MACS turned out to be the best way to go; though now I have about 3TB of unused solid state drive on the MACBook, a waste of money.

My 2012 MacBook Pro came back to life with this gem.
