Solid State Drive Mac Pro Early 2008

This device makes a solid state drive (SSD) compatible for a Mac Pro. The hard drive slides that come with the computer only mount 3.5 inch drives. This enables you to take advantage of the new SSD's fast speed and reliability. It comes with four mounting screws so that you can mount your SSD (sold separately).

This is just what the doctor ordered to accompany my new Mac Pro. It is not as fast as a solid state drive but more than adequate for editing HD or storing video files. I also have a bunch of RAW photos on there as well that are easily and quickly editable in Lightroom.

Purchased this upgrade from my former Mac Pro (Early 2008 Dual-Quad) that was showing it's age in speed. This newer model takes faster (and cheaper) RAM, has upgraded PCI slots, faster clock speed and other improvements. I did not want to be a Beta-Tester on the new 2013 Mac Pro recently announced or buy all new peripherals, so I was lucky to get one of the last of the old designs while they were still available!

Used this to install a 2.5 SSD drive in a 2008 Mac Pro.

This drive has been performing very well so far. It is a replacement of the original 320GB Seagate on a 2008 Mac Pro. The reason for the purchase was for the much needed space, and for video and photo editing. This hard drive is perfect for this. It is inexpensive. The computer is now operating much more smoothly; it is incredibly quieter; and boot up is a lot faster! The reviews on this drive helped with making the purchase.

I knowingly bought this for my 2008 mac although the review state its for 2009. Therefore I can't give it less than 5 stars. The rails fit in fine with the 2008 mac however the handle part sticks out about an inch causing interference with putting the slide panel back on. Once I had it fitted into place i used a cutting knife and scored a line where i would need to cut the excess off. I used an angle grinder and cut off enough so that I could remount the SSD drive and close the lid.

Solid state drive worth it.

Super fast with solid state drive. Love the 13 inch verse my old mac 15 inch. I got the i5 processor and it's working great, not slow, and I do video productions (thought I don't edit full time on this computer) Enjoy!

This is my second WD 1 TB drive, and I use them to both store and backup photos from my MacBook Pro (with solid-state storage). Even with lots of RAW files, the transfer rate seems fast. It is small, and easily stored when not in use. There is nothing about this drive that I would change.

Worked like a charm on my 2008 early MacBook Pro. After cloning the old hdd to the new ssd, installation was easy. Read and write speed is like day and night. I also increased RAM ordered through B&H. It’s like a new laptop. Thank you.
