Solid State Hard Drives 4Tb

Compared to old Hard drive which was not solid state, the new drive respond time is noticeable. Did not want to change drives because thought I was wasting money $243. but after changing drives glad I did. Ron I

I am IT guy who replaces mechanical hard drives with solid state hard drives approximately once per week. This is a great brand, with a good product at a great price. If you want to compare SSDs, look for the highest number of Input / Output Per Second (IOPs) to best judge performance. Read/write speed is not a good indicator. I would rate the drive as a B+, which is more great for most uses.

Have had no trouble with my other Caviar Black Hard Drives so was happy to give these 4TB drives a spin as well.

I have several WB 4TB Passport USB External Hard drives and they are easy to use, perfect for backing up photos, music or anything else. Perfect size if you want to travel with them and in general do not take up a lot of space. The transfer speed is also good. I wanted the red one to separate its use from others I have and it's a nice red.

I have use WD hard drives for years. I bough three 4TB Red internal drives to replace all the smaller ones when I upgraded my computer. My old WD hard drives were over 10 years old and working fine just to small. The new 4TB hard drives work great. I just plugged them in and set them up with Windows 10 and everything worked fine. If they hold up like the old smaller ones I may never need to replace them.

I purchased two of these 4TB drives to use as backups for my Lightroom files. I have a 3.5 inch 4 TB external hard drive on my desktop and use these compact 2.5 inch hard drives to keep additional backups in other locations (work plus my daughter's home). They work great with Carbon Copy Cloner for making incremental backups periodically. I've tried the cloud storage option (Backblaze) but even with a high speed internet connection it takes weeks to establish the initial backup and my bandwidth is always being taxed. I prefer having my essential backups more local and under my control. These Western Digital external drives are fast and efficient and so affordable.

I needed a fast traditional hard drive. I can't fully trust SSDs for long term storage yet. Not to mention the price differnce is astronomical. I usually get G-Drives but they were out of stock. WD owns both companies and the Black drives seem to get great reviews so I grabbed this one on sale. I mounted it in a HornetTek Jaws external enclosure and it's been fine ever since. The only negative is it seems to take a while to be recognized on my Mac. This is the same thing with my smaller Elements 4TB drive. However, my WD 2TB drives and my 4TB G-Drive are quick to be recognized though so who knows. Little issues like that are why I keep several backup drives handy to minimize potential failures. No problems so far though so hopefully I have a few years of service in this one.
