Sonos Wireless Speakers 5.1

I guess you could describe me as an audiophile. My current system cost me about 25 KBUCKS and includes Audio Research pre-amp and amp, Mirage speakers (8 speakers in each tower), an 18 inch subwoofer, etc., etc. Two things made me ready for a change: 1) I am ready to simplify and unclutter and 2) My ears ain't what they used to be. Through lots of research and recommendations by the audio store that sold me my current setup some years ago, I landed on Sonos. I am awaiting a 5.1 home theatre setup, but could not resist buying a Sonos 5 while waiting. It came a couple of hours ago, and I am enjoying the hell out of it. Quick, intuitive setup, great sound and wireless! I love it. Understand that my listening area is a challenge. A voluminous room with 30 foot wooden ceilings. This beauty fills up the room with wonderful sound. As I type this, I am sitting in my home office which is a considerable distance from the speaker and it is clear and concise even through the walls and distance (of course I will now have to get a Play or Play one for in here!). I was amazed at the bass response. I had to immediately play Olympic fanfare which is a knockout piece on my reference setup. Wonderful! With singing, the voices are clear and the highs are crisp and clean. Unfortunately, I can see another one of these in my immediate future to setup a stereo system. I can't wait to see how it sounds when the subwoofer arrives with the 5.1 system. Sonos, you guys rock!! 5 |

After not having a traditional stereo system (receiver, speakers, CD players etc) for quite a few years, I had been thinking about getting a new something or another to fit how today's music is presented. I could listen to music on my computer and I had a couple of other items, but the sound was lacking and I really wanted good sound again. I already bought a Sonos Beam for my TV in one room, and I've been extremely pleased with its sound. After I played around with this and learned how to stream music to the Beam (sounded great), I decided to check out other wireless speaker offerings. Of course, when I listened to a few of the available wireless speakers, none of them measured up to the rich, clear sound of the Sonos products. I found the Five's sound to be most impressive, and after hearing it I was interested only in the Five. I've had it several weeks now and I'm very happy with it. I like the fact that if I want, I can move the speaker to different rooms....just plug it in and use the Sonos app to start the music. The Sonos app is also quite good and easy to use. Overall, I'm very happy with the Sonos Five and would purchase it again. 5 |

I have a tech savvy friend that swears by Sonos, I have 3 Bose wireless speakers at home that I use in back yard and patio, and thought that it was great... Until I heared L5 at his house.... Holly smokes..you can hear every note with no back static and the base is so on point, just like you are at a club. My summer is coming along just fine:-) 5 |

We decided to go wireless and use Sonos to take away clutter and facilitate streaming and different music playback options in different rooms at the same time. We used to have an Onkyo 2 zone receiver running two amazing outdoor Bose speakers (prewired in our home) and a Bose Accousitmass 10 sorround system in our family room. To play the speakers outside we had to play the same thing in the Family room. It sounded good though. We replaced the Onkyo and indoor Bose surround with a Sonos Soundbar and we are 110% happy with that. We also bought a Sonos Amp to run the outdoor speakers. Now we can play different things in the different areas and the sound quality is phenomenal. The amp has more power and clarity than the old Onkyo receiver. I know this is a really expensive option, but for us, it was completely worth the investment! 5 |

I decided to dispose of my hi fi equipment that I had used for years, CD player, amp, pre-amp, tuner & 2 large speakers in our lounge. I acquired a new iPod touch & discovered I could stream the music wirelessly to any Sonos speaker in the house using our BT wireless router. I downloaded the Sonos software onto my iPod & connected the new Sonos 5 speaker to my wireless network using my laptop, all very simple & straightforwardly, even for me. I could not be more pleased with the result, both for the ease of use & the sound quality. In the future I shall look to acquire further speakers for other rooms in the house, as the system is so easy to use. 5 |
