Sony 5.1 Receiver With Bluetooth

After replacing my 30-year-old Sony Prologic 5.1 Receiver with a new Sony STR DN590 5.2, I felt that my 30-year-old Yamahas needed an upgrade, also. I went online for reviews of several candidates, and the SS-CS5 stood out among the others. I have not been disappointed! Its bass melds with my PSW10, like the proverbial "seamless garment", superior to its predecessors, to produce concert level bass with Eric Clapton's 1988 version of "After Midnight", and the treble and midrange handles both contemporary and vintage female vocals, as from Bond themes. All-in-all, a great speaker!

Purchased 3 weeks ago to upgrade from a 2011 receiver, I found this Sony unit is a great value purchase for a "simple" 5.1 setup. It offers plenty of power for smaller home theatre rooms, has enough surround sound options to pick from, supports ARC and 4K HDMI passthru, and the user interface with easy tuning/setup are all major selling points in my book. I you want an honest value in a 5.1/5.2 receiver... I think this unit is a bargin!

The speaker has a nice bass sound. It pairs well with the Sony 5.1 receiver with the RCA cord (included) . It has a power save switch on the back. You can leave it on all the time, or you can have it "click" off when there is no signal. Sometimes when the volume is low it clicks on and off during a single song depending on the strength of the bass signal. This can be fixed by just leaving it on all the time. I have a multi-plug surge protector to turn everything off when not in use.

I bought the STR-DH590 to replace my old Sony 5.1 receiver that was almost 15 years old. This was ridiculously easy to setup, has excellent audio features & I love the 4K video passthru. It allowed me to connect a single HDMI cable to my TV & have all my other devices plugged into the STR-DH590. Excellent value & I would highly recommend!

Compliments the playbar,Not as good as having a receiver and a 5.1 set up but good enough.

I bought this receiver to replace a 25-year old Sony receiver that lost its sound capability. This receiver is basic (only 2 channels) but does have phono and Bluetooth connections plus an A/B speaker feature. Set-up was a snap (didn't need the manual) and Bluetooth pairing the receiver with my Android phone and Linux laptop was a breeze. I also think the FM receiver is a step-up in reception quality from my old one.

The Sony DH590 receiver has been great for home theater. The Bluetooth function and Wi-Fi function of this receiver allows any type connection to your device such as phone or computer. Love it.

After doing research for a basic stereo receiver I chose the Sony STR-DH190 due to the impressive list of features including the phono input, Bluetooth, and the higher wattage output versus other similar receivers. I have attached my recently restored turntable to the receiver as well as a CD player and the sound is just fantastic! I particularly enjoy the ability to activate the receiver via Bluetooth from my smartphone and immediately begin streaming music - a great feature! Overall the Sony STR-DH190 is an excellent value and I use it every day.
