Sony Alpha A 6000 Mirrorless Camera

I bought this camera for my wife who already owns a Sony NX5 and a Sony DSLR. The Alpha 6000 is now her go to camera for just about everything she photographs. All the features of a new DSLR camera but half the weight and size. Blazing fast focus never misses and works with all of her older E lenses and DSLR lenses with the Sony adapter. I elected to get her the gorgeous silver and black finish body that is reminiscent of neo-modern rangefinder camera in the mirrorless package and the fit and finish is excellent. Unlike the Nex 5 the Alpha 6000 incorporates an electronic viewfinder into it's light and compact body that is bright and sharp and a welcome addition over the older Nex 5. Current pricing of the Alpha 6000 is very good for such a feature laden camera and although the newer Alpha 6300 and 6500 may have additional features in more robust packaging you would be hard pressed to find the same value for money! As expected B&H service was excellent and delivery was faster than I anticipated, even with the need to clear customs into Canada.

I am using the lens with a Sony a-6000 mirrorless camera. Previously, I used two lenses that covered the same range as this one, but changing lenses on a regular basis was a hassle. Additionally, the process of swapping lenses caused small dust particles to settled on the camera's sensor that required cleaning. With this new lens I no longer have either of these issues and my photos are better than ever!

I like my Sony alpha 6000 for its portability but found it inconvenient that there was no overlap between the two lenses, so I purchased this one. Just what I needed. It's a lightweight lens so the portability wasn't affected. I also bought a filter kit that includes polarizer, UV, and ND filters, thus far have only used the polarizer; glad I got it.

I use this lens with a Sony alpha 6000. The Lens is incredibly sharp, with little to no barrel distortion or chromatic aberrations. It is a prime lens, and it does not connect electronically to the camera -- this means manual focus only and no EXIF information stored on the shots as to the lens and aperture used. If this is OK with you (it is with me), then this is a great lens. I now use only Rokinon / Samyang prime lenses in addition to the 55-210mm Sony zoom lens for wildlife shots with the a6000. Some people have noted that there should be a distance scale to help with estimating the deapth of field, but after having had the lens for a while you will develop a good intuition for this anyway. One thing that could be an issue some months / heavy usage down the line: f numbers and focusing distances are painted not etched into the lens, so they could wear off after a while I guess.

Being a novice in mirrorless cameras and photography as a whole I find this book very helpful and the service from B&H is first class.

I like this little inexpensive lens. I was looking for a single lens to mount on my Sony Alpha a-6000 for casual, all purpose photography when I don't want to carry my whole camera bag. I wanted a fast lens for low light. My expectations were not extremely high. As others mentioned, wide open it's fairly soft, but close it down a bit and it produces very acceptable results. The feel is nice and tight on the focus and aperture rings, but not too tight. The retro look is a nice bonus.
