I use it to back up sensitive and regular data, so I use the password protection thing. -I have owned 4 WD passports for 2yrs and 3 My Books for 4 yrs; none has failed me thus far. -I also like the security feature, and the SmartWare has improved a lot with a much friendlier interface vs earlier versions. NOTE: I do manual backup so don't know about the reliability of the auto feature. Needs improvement: may be a good idea to have a password recovery disc capability like Windows 7. 5 |

We use these in our AV racks in order to be able to remotely power cycle equipment that might be locked up or not responding to pings. It is a time saver for our techs and the APC version is very reliable on our network. 5 |
