Sony Professional Film Cameras

This is the classic Kodak Portra film for medium format cameras by which all others can be judged. It is a color negative film, suitable for prints or large enlargements. Great for the professional or advanced amateur alike. Ideal for professional portraits, or indoor/outdoor still applications, or preset action shots. 5 |

With the demise of film in most new cameras, finding suitable products for professional work is becoming harder. Only the best can survive in such a market and Kodak Porta 160 for 4x5 is still available due to its superior properties. It must be the best film currently available for 4x5 colour photography. Rich beautiful skin tones unmatched by any digital counterpart. On the downside, it's becoming hard to find 50 packs making the less economical 10 pack the only option. Let's hope this film is available for years to come! 5 |

I have owned dozens of Canon Cameras from professional film ones then pocket digital point and shoot. I consider myself a semi professional and love this camera. It does everything from manual settings to totally automatic. The pictures are great, the down load is a breeze. It is so simple to operate, it took me a few minutes to figure it out. The owners manual is very clear and simple to follow. The lens is perfect for most photos but I will be getting the longer zoom lens in the near future. 5 |

I always have a few rolls of this in the fridge. 400 speed is a very usable range for any of my cameras, P&S or professional bodies. This film can get a bit grainy in shadows and underexposed areas, when scanned. 5 |

As a professional cameraman, I have been using these Sony Digital Master HDV tapes for about 10 years for commercials and web videos. I have about 600 in my tape vault, all shot on my Sony Z1U and FX1 cameras. The tapes are extremely dependable. Amazingly, in all these years I've only seen a few momentary drop-outs, and I have never lost a scene to tape damage. These days I use my HDV cameras for second or third cameras on many shoots, or when I need a special look such as low shutter speed. I am very glad that Sony continues to make this tape, and that B&H continues to sell them. 5 |

While digital technologies continue to be perfected with professional camera use and their widespread applications, the latest Sony RX1RII fixed Zeiss lens camera (other cameras allow long-lens variants) exceeds expectations, especially when printing work on a large scale (with the Epson Stylus Pro 9900). While some relatively minor imperfections exist as with all cameras that professionals adjust to, the expansive quality of color, remarkable low-light resolution, extraordinary image quality and virtual unlimited visual potentials provide challenges that move into unchartered territory for artists (see attached site-specific photographic installation of 112x152cm prints). The most problematic issue is not Sony's: Adobe Photoshop has abandoned the long supporting professional community by not making a plug-in for this camera's RAW files (ARW in Sony terms). Two alternatives: 1) join the CC monthly feed of Adobe Photoshop (APS), abandoning the experienced professional use of all former Photoshop versions, or 2) for 99$ purchase the most basic APS Elements software that notes the Sony RX1RII RAW files are supported, at least noted in Elements literature. What a way to treat loyal professionals and Sony over the years, claiming that CC is better without meaningful details justifying the obvious money first, customer second policy for purchasing the CC version. Not mentioning inevitable future rises in CC prices, non-copyright protections in-Cloud, and not allowing printing in your studio with your own APS, even when CC RAW is tiff converted. Sony's RX1RII with Zeiss lens and its internal digital processor chip is remarkable for what the eye can see (numerous professional digital cameras now exceed what can be seen without mention), even with the rare if not unprecedented 600$ additional cost recently by Sony. 5 |

I do professional videography but I started out years ago shooting on a Pentax K1000 film camera. I bought the a6000 primarily for shooting video with a large sensor camera. This camera is fantastic. At around $500 there is nothing that comes close in features and it has a aps C sensor which is found in 90% of all dslr and mirrorless cameras. I’ve seen canon 1” sensor point ant shoot cameras for hundreds more. I shoot low light wedding videos on this camera and the video looks fantastic. It also shoots video in Sony’s xavc 50 mbps format which is found on Sony cameras and pro camcorders costing thousands more. This small camera is a beast! 5 |

Being a professional lifestyle film maker I need quality fast access to memory. Sony's G series 128gb XQD's is a reliable workhorse, and with the superb value & service offered by B&H (even with overseas shipping) it's a no brainer! 5 |
