Sony Professional Video Camera Z5 Price

Video professional used this products on a Sony Z5 and it worked very well. All the features of this product, Zoom rocker worked smooth and varied in speed to pressure. The Record, Data, and Focus controls worked well stepping through functions. My only 2 criticisms are that there is no Iris control on the unit and the model I purchased was made of ABS Plastic. The plastic is fine if you are careful and remove from your Tripod. The controller is light so great for traveling. Durability is stil something to be evaluated over time.

I used this Mic on a Sony HVR-Z5 video camera approximately 25 feet from the source. I recorded a piano, male and female voices and a flute. The clarity of the sound is unparalleled. If you do not believe me go to FB page for Pierce Opera House and listen to some of the songs. I fully recommend this Mic. It is not cheap but it does the job.

I use this microphone with the UTX P1 transmitter (wireless)on a Sony Z5 video camera. No phantom power needed. Excellent for speeches recording, school plays etc. No hissing noise even when you boost the signal. Perform excellent on-camera as well

I do professional videography but I started out years ago shooting on a Pentax K1000 film camera. I bought the a6000 primarily for shooting video with a large sensor camera. This camera is fantastic. At around $500 there is nothing that comes close in features and it has a aps C sensor which is found in 90% of all dslr and mirrorless cameras. I’ve seen canon 1” sensor point ant shoot cameras for hundreds more. I shoot low light wedding videos on this camera and the video looks fantastic. It also shoots video in Sony’s xavc 50 mbps format which is found on Sony cameras and pro camcorders costing thousands more. This small camera is a beast!

I place my Sony HVR-Z5 & wireless mic set in it for the protection I need when I'm transporting the video camera from one location to another. No worries cause even if you bang it up you still have that peace of mind knowing your equipment is very safe! This item is so light weight and ergonomically right. Easy to store and remove your camera when you need it! A must buy for that Ultimate protection you need!

I trust Sony batteries. I still use several NP-F batteries I bought 12 years ago with my Sony Z5 camera. I got this one to replace 2 Swit S8U63 that died suddenly after some very light use (!) over three years. I use it to remote power an Atomos Shogun Inferno. The battery is mounted on a SWIT Battery Mount for Sony BP-U Batteries since the battery has no DTap connector, and can be carried in a pocket or small belt pouch. Works!

Great camera for its price. Professional grade construction and quality. Fast burst and easy to use. Only one thing I would say is a con that there is no video but I don't even use video and the cameras in this price range when you add video you lose photography abilities i.e. fps, burst, etc.

This is an excellent camera for the price. I’ll get the bad part out of the way first: the viewfinder is rough in low light situations, and kind of uninspiring in general. Then again, that’s compared to the last camera I purchased, the S1, which had the most amazing viewfinder I have ever looked through on a digital camera. That camera is also several hundred dollars more expensive, and I can’t see justifying the price difference based on that and a couple other minor differences. The size is right compared to the S1 for carrying around all the time (that thing is massive, which is why I returned it), and then compared to Sony I much prefer the image quality and color rendition, the button and menu layouts, the feel of the camera in hand, etc. Regarding the AF that most people complain about with Panasonic, it’s a non-issue for me as I try not to rely on AF for video, even on Sony cameras I’ve used that had nearly telepathic AF, because weird jumps in focus still happen that can lead to unusable footage. The MF features are very helpful, like focus peaking, and you can even set the sensitivity of the focus ring on certain lenses and the direction of the turn for near/far focus. For stills, the AF works well enough for me with portraits and things like that. The IBIS is good enough that I can get away with handholding the camera for video in certain situations, and provides some extra range for shooting stills at slower shutter speeds, even with adapted vintage lenses. All in all I am very satisfied with my purchase so far and would recommend the S5 to other folks who are looking for a reasonably priced full frame hybrid camera but who maybe don’t need the more reliable AF found in other brands.
