Sony Rx1R Ii Review

Nice padding for my Sony RX1R II. Fits perfectly and the mesh pocket holds some spare batteries. 5 |

I have starting my new Fotodix X Pro Soft Shutter release button on my Sony RX1R II camera. It works as expected and really assists when shooting with slow shutter speeds. 5 |

I bought it to carry a Sony RX1R II camera instead of a traditional lens. The protection is very good with thick padding inside. A convenient mesh pocket is available under the top cover. Solid built, fit the Sony RX1R very well. My camera has a wrist strap hooked to it: the case offers enough space to store both. 5 |

The image quality that comes from the RX1, RX1R and the RX1R II is amazing, coming from such a small camera. The tilt screen and the pop-up electronic view finder is makes the mark ii version of this camera even better. Improved auto focus is a great improvement allowing more sharp images when tracking a subject. The manual controls make this camera a joy to use. The 35mm focal length is my favorite, and this camera allows me to focus on taking pictures, rather than carrying heavy camera bag with multiple lenses. Also good for astrophotography (summer months better to capture the milky way) as chromatic aberration doesn't re-shape stars like the 6D / 24L or 35L combo did for me previously. Definitely a keeper! Get a few extra batteries too ... you'll need them :) 5 |

RX1R II is a great camera, but for the awkward grip that one has to bear. This solves that problem, and makes RX1RII my favourite camera! 5 |

Had the RX1 now owning the RX1R II which makes life a lot easier because of the faster AF and the build-in EVF. The Megapixels are a welcome addition. Best thing though: they kept the ZEISS Sonnar 35/2 which still is one of my alltime favorites. I use it mostly always wide open. The Bokeh transition is unbelievable. I shoot the RX alongside my Nikon Z7 but the 35 and Its compact form factor makes it the perfect reportage camera. People are just reacting differently to it. Was thinking about the Q2 but 28mm is just not my cup of tea. One more thing: had my cameras through really bad weather, beaches and hot kitchens and never had a problem. Who needs Weather sealing, if you not drain your cameras? 5 |

Kudos to B&H for putting together a kit that compliments exactly what you need to start out shooting with the RX1R II. I had the original RX1R but was frustrated by the limited number of focus points and the lack of phase detection auto-focus. I had to check every shot for accuracy. Not so with the RX1R II. Even tho I have the A7R IV with the 35mm 2.8, there is something magical about the fixed combination of this lens and camera body. Granted, the tech is 5 years old but somehow it holds up and the images are just stunning. Keep it at 1/100th of a second and let Sony do the ISO calculations and you're golden. Everything is crisp, clear, and the pops. Perfect size for street photography or a night out when you don't want to take something heavy or need interchangeable lenses. Yes, battery life is dumb but these batteries are cheap and small. Get a dual charger and take an extra in your pocket and done. 5 |

Working with several of various RX100s in recent years, replacing Nikons after decades of work as an artist and scholar worldwide, acquired the finer RX1R II professional after announced to be on the market by Sony after reading specs. Never looked back. Continually surprised by newfound qualities in color, resolution and other digitally captured features when fine printing into large scale (4x6'+) prints with the Epson 9900 professional printer in the studio for site-specific installations globally. Trained in painting and printmaking in formative university years, there are qualities realized here thanks to the RX1R II never experienced to any great degree in photography. Yet with hands-on visual potentials unfolding especially with color to contribute photographically in extraordinary ways beyond other mediums and media. Now acquired by museum collections internationally, the work to expand newer directions thanks to the remarkable digital camera system is hardly limited by the imagination. 5 |

This an excellent camera for THE premier 35mm focal length shooting experience. I'm a long time Leica M shooter and hate big cameras. The RX1R II is what I've been waiting for the past several years and is now my main digital body for color use, which accompanies my Leica M3 and two prime lenses for analog monochrome use. What's to like? The RX1R II is very small and light (smaller than the Leica M series; it's more comparable to the Leica IIIf in both size and weight), stowable in a large jacket or sweater pocket, has amazing dynamic range, and the image quality is to die for -- oh, and did I mention that it's ber small? Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing... What's not to like? Battery life is the only shortcoming for me to comment upon, although one battery will last all day for me if I quickly frame and shoot the image, then shut the camera off (no chimping or excess viewfinder use). As it is, I always carry plenty of spare batteries (they hardly weigh anything), so this is a non-issue for me. Some people will complain about the cost, but a camera of this caliber has never been inexpensive, so that doesn't bother me either. The auto-focus isn't something I rely upon, as I'm into manual focus primes -- your mileage may vary. If you're into the 35mm focal length, this is your baby -- just buy a couple of extra batteries and you're good to go. 5 |

I loved my RX1R but the slow focusing was a bit annoying. The Rx1R II is much faster and is a great camera. The images and versatility of this camera are ideal for me. The new viewfinder is a welcome addition as is the tilting back display. People have been talking about short battery life, I just carry spares. The new case is also great because you do not have to remove it to gain access to the battery compartment. Overall I love this camera and highly recommend it. 5 |
