Sony Student Pricing

As a documentary film Grad Student, I find this lens to be the perfect addition for my Sony FS5, it is an F/4 constant aperture cine lens that does not disappoint. In addition to quiet operation, and parfocal attributes for constant focus throughout the zoom range, the crystal clear high-resolution glass is superb. I would recommend this lens to any serious filmmaker that uses Sony E-mount Camcorders or DSLR Cameras.

As a film student, BFA Film - Cinematography - Purchasing the Sony FS-7 was a no brainer. The ergonomics of an ENG style cam? Icing on the cake! The ability to securely mount this little guy? Something to be desired. I'm 6'5 plus some change--the FS-7 was not made with my body size in mind. With the SHAPE baseplate, however, I can put this sucker in a perfectly balanced configuration and get the in your face camera movements and CUs I desired from this camera out of the box. I'm not sure how the other baseplates rank, but what had me sold was the modeling of the plate to the FS-7's more unique footprint. The result: it looks beautiful, feels sturdy as a rock and allows for numerous configurations to fit any shooting style! Only issue seems to be the mounting of non Sony-style tripod mounts. Can't figure out how to attach it directly to a standard arca or manfrotto QR :/

great lens if ur new to photography and want a good budget prime lens! I have the sony a7riii and this lens is perfect to start out and learn how to use my new camera. if ur also a student like me I 100% recommend pros: the AMAZING price for product value. cons: the chromatic aberration and the auto focus is bad but if ur a student working in studio you will be just fine. for the price is great

Professional and student use.

This IDX V-Mount Battery Plate works perfectly for my Sony FS5. It has a very solid and professional feel to it and I love the AC cord it comes with that plugs right into the DC port on my camera. It is an awesome unit and does the job. A word of warning though. You probably better purchase now if you are needing this because the manufacturer's pricing will be going up soon. B&H has the best pricing in the world on this one.

I have had off-brand batteries that deteriorated in quality, and a couple that were garbage. Much as I suspect Sony's pricing is inflated, their batteries are always dependable, and last very well. My experience with the 50's on my A6000 has been stellar over 5 years, and these batteries do well in all temperatures (including the 30sF) out in the desert. The difference in battery life between these on my A7r3 and the smaller batteries on the a6000 is really something. Two can get me through a couple days of solid shooting.

Purchased just after Christmas to take advantage of Sony special pricing. Purchased because of other positive reviews and I can say this is a great small almost "pocket" camera. Great features and extensive electronics for both photo and video imaging.
