Sony Studio Headphones White

Ive used the standard Sony studio monitoring headphones for video production purposes, and while they sound fine, they just dont last very long...ear cup material comes apart or just comes off. The Sennheiser HD 280s are buil to stand up to the riggors of location production applications while providing great isolated sound for monitoring purposes. My only compliant/wish would be for them to switch to a non-coiled headphone cable...gets stretched out if someone decides to wrap it around the earpieces or if it gets shoved into a bag.

My previous Sony headphones were studio headphones and I was unsure how much of an upgrade these new ones would be. I use them for playing my keyboard workstation. I read the reviews and decided to make the purchase not really knowing how much of an upgrade they would be. I was shocked when I heard the presence of the keyboard in these headphones. When I hit a bass note it sounded so different and deeper. I kept playing and playing and all of my songs sounded new again. For $90 what a crazy upgrade! You have to hear it to believe it.

I had been using a pair of Sony MDR-V6 studio headphones for years and years and always thought them fine. A friend convinced me to try these Sennheiser HD 600 and they are astonishinly better than my old trusty Sonys in every way - the clarity and sense of space in stereo recordings is amazing.

I purchased 3 sets for all my Sony headphones in my studio. The fit and feel is far better than the original. No black plastic coating to flake off. And better isolation for better sound quality. These will add years to our headphones.

Can't go wrong with this set of cans. I personally prefer these to the Sony MDR-7506 studio headphones. The Sennheisers are much more sturdy and cancel out the sound very well. I would say these are heavy on the midtones but hold a decent bass. Not nearly as good of a soundstage as the Sennheiser HD598's which are dropping in price ($) but those are more for private music sessions as the HD280's I would recommend for video editing.

I've replaced the original earpads in a couple of Sony MDR-7506 studio headphones as well as a Audio-Technica BPHS1 broadcast headset. I find them more comfortable that the OEM earpads. Easy to install, and they last.

The Sony MDR-7506 headphones are a staple in the studio and it's easy to see why. These sound great and are so cheap. B&H had the best price I could find, they came the next day (for no extra charge), and immediately made all of my monitor headphones obsolete. The cord has a great flexible length, allowing the musicians to move about without being encumbered by length restrictions. Short story: Best studio headphones under $100.

A great go-to for headphones in the field or studio.
