Sony Vlog Pocket Camera

Overall, I LOVE the Lumix S1. I use it mostly for it's 10bit 4k video ability. The 4k resolution and detail is spectacular. It's 10bit color in HLG and VLog is great and it's VLog dynamic range is THE most I have EVER seen in any camera before. It's 150Mbp/s 4k long GOP CODEC is surprisingly tough. It encodes VERY well down into the shadows and allows you to aggressively stretch colors upward without seeing the noise floor and compression artifacts that you certainly would expect. Auto focus is not on Sony's A+ level but it's not terrible either. I would rate it's AF a solid B grade performer. Now for the one bad part - In VLog, the S1 and S1H suffer a severe defect in terms of blue LED lights. Actually, they are completely intolerant to any kind of blue lights in dark scenes. In fact, they will go berserk and clip the blue very, VERY badly. The blue clipping will swallow areas all around any blue LED light, completely ruining your shot. However, this does NOT happen in HLG at all. HLG is perfectly fine in the exact same scenes. I believe this can be fixed in firmware but until then, when using VLog, be EXTREMELY careful with any blue light in your shot. (i.e stage lighting or wedding receptions, etc..) If you see blue, switch to HLG....don't risck it! With that problem aside,...this is a PHENOMENAL camera in sooooo many ways. I'm very much in love with it! (I left Sony for this camera because of it's 10bit video)

I have been a fan of the 1 inch cameras. I am a serious amateur, but need a camera for the pocket, so most DSLR or even mirorless are out for me. I have owned the SONY rx 100 series. That is an incredible travel camera, even better then this canon in some ways. But to me, I do not need the larger zoom on the SOny. The canon combination of 1 inch sensor with the F 1.8 lens and image stabilization, can rival APS-C sensors in lower light and certainly in daylight. image quality is amazing, excellent feel and control, fantastic touch screen function. the camera also feels more substantial the Lumix or even the SOny. If you strictly want a travel camera with a bigger zoom, go with the SONY, but if you want an overall day to day camera as a sort of SLR substitute that fits in the pocket. this is the winner. overall, I think Canon really hit a home run with this camera, if used for the right purpose.

I purchased this microphone to pair with my Sony a6400 for vlog style shooting and have been very impressed with the instant boost in sound quality. The all metal construction is very nice as well and the lyre suspension system is great for reducing handling noise. All in all this is a great microphone for the sub $100 category.

I had purchased this to support a Sony ZV-1 to take photos/video at ground level and to VLOG. The build quality is good. The ballhead is basic, but does the job. It tightens adequately. Nice compact unit.

The number of features and the quality that are found in this pocket sized camera are remarkable. The near instant focus is great. The option of EVF or the movable viewscreen on the back of the camera are big pluses for me. The high frame rate (HFR) feature makes it a real weapon for sports photography. The online PDF manual is a significant disappointment. It is poorly organized and the descriptions of features and functions are dismal. Fortunately, most small cameras follow a similar organization scheme and hierarchy and with a few tries I found nearly everything that I need. I am about to leave on an extended overseas trip and my Sony will be in my pocket and my uber-heavy DSLR, multiple lenses and serious tripod will stay home. If the Sony performs as I hope, I will be travelling much lighter in the future.
