Ssd Vs Hdd External Hard Drive Lifespan

This is my backup drive and works smoothly even if used together with an external ssd/hdd sata enclosure.

This is my 2nd external storage unit, but my 1st SSD. My first unit, from a widely recognized manuf'd, was a HDD (hard disk drive) that began to give me trouble. I switched to a SSD (solid state drive), which is supposed to be faster and more reliable than HDD. This Sandisk was easy to set-up and format and has been operating flawlessly. I notice the unit is 'warm' to the touch, unlike my first HDD which was stone cold, but other than that seems to be working perfectly, and I really like the password security feature, too.

2T WD Black internal hdd works great. Use it in my external hard drive shell with a esata connection to my D*** Set top Box for much more space for DVR recordings than D***** provides.

Laptop was reporting hard drive as failing. Decided to replace my 5400rpm HDD with an SSD boot drive and a 7200rpm HDD into this Data Doubler. Instructions could have been a little better, but were easy enough to follow. Installation really was not that difficult. Kit came with all tools necessary for job and there were a few extra screws in the pack just in case I lost one of those tiny things. Tripled my onboard storage!

I decided to try an SSD and the swap couldn't have been easier. A few minutes to clone to it, then a few minutes to swap it with the old drive in the computer and I'm right back online. The speed increase was remarkable... many times faster for file and program loads, and noticeably faster even for internet activities. If you still have a mechanical hard drive, switching to an SSD is highly recommended, and Micron SSD's are definitely the best brand in my humble opinion (I'm a retired electronic engineer).

This is a great way to keep using an SSD (which was an internal hard drive) as an external hard drive. The directions are much improved from the same model that I bought two months ago. It's easy to insert the SSD into the case if you keep an eye on where parts fit together..

This fits my external 2.5 USB 3.0 SSD hard drive really well and gives it good protection and has a place to store the cable. Good value for money and the usual great quality I have come to expect from items sold by B&H.
