Baby plates are incredible useful tools in the grips arsenal. I just added another use...pivot point for a jib boom. I built a six-foot boom and used baby plate as the mount and pivot point and a c-stand for support. It is a simple and solid mount for the boom. 5 |

You won't find a better twin bracket unless you build it yourself. It has locking teeth on the pivot point and it is almost entirely made out of metal. Definitely a beefy bracket. 5 |

The Wimberley gimbal head is a quality product. It is smooth as silk and the locks are very effective. It holds and swings my D-700 and f-2.8 400mm easily as well as smaller combinations. Although the pivot point is offset from the optical axis, it can serve easily as a panoramic head with the simple addition of a home-brew azimuth stick-on scale. I am inclined to use a right angle quick release Acra-Swiss adapter and dovetail rail to allow the head to replace my ball head. With the weight below the pivot point the usual ball head problems go away. 5 |
