Must have if you're using a monitor on a shoulder rig. Haven't found a better solution for getting good distance between the monitor and your eyes.

I am using these in my home studio. I needed to create some distance from my speakers so to hear low frequencies more accurately. I was really happy to notice after getting my speakers decoupled from my desk that I could now hear a more realistic stereo image and a tighter more focused sound in the low end. I'm yet to fill the columns with sand but I'm sure this will again make a difference. I'm very happy with my purchase. The stands are well built, look great and are very stable.

I got these headphones to use as both studio and field monitors, but listening to music is also truly a treat. i use these for my commute. they are clearly designed for studio recording use, but they have noise isolation, so even when i'm not listening to music, i still don't hear noise on the train. they need a bit of stretching, but are pretty comfortable. a bit heavy for most people, but i like the weight, it makes them feel substantial. the cable stood up to my one year old biting it, very strong. and while its not necessary for music enjoyment, the mono/stereo switch is fun to play with and gives you an appreciation of what goes into making a track.

Purchased 2 years ago and use for both live performance soloing, personal listening, and some studio mixing. These headphones are very durable and comfortable, but the sound quality really sets them apart. They transport me into whatever I'm listening to. Combined with a fiios dac, they will do everything and will do it well. Unless you're looking for open back headphones, these will easily become your favorites. A+. I'll replace the earpads and cable when they finally wear out.
