Studio Monitoring Amplifier

A good combination of studio monitoring and casual music listening

Ive used the standard Sony studio monitoring headphones for video production purposes, and while they sound fine, they just dont last very long...ear cup material comes apart or just comes off. The Sennheiser HD 280s are buil to stand up to the riggors of location production applications while providing great isolated sound for monitoring purposes. My only compliant/wish would be for them to switch to a non-coiled headphone cable...gets stretched out if someone decides to wrap it around the earpieces or if it gets shoved into a bag.

Used as a keyboard amplifier. Plenty of power to rock the studio while not hurting my speakers or distorting.

I selected this headphone amplifier for my home studio after comparing many alternatives for one primary reason: Discrete, balanced inputs for all signals. Even though my snake from control room to studio is only 50 feet, it is enough to pick up line frequency hum for units with unbalanced inputs. The Tascam MH-8 has individual, Left/Right balanced inputs for 2 shared and 8 individual channel inputs which gives enormous flexibility on the back-side patch panel. Having 8 output channels is also an advantage vs the more typical 6 since most computer interfaces and mixers have groups of 8 channels for more of me use. The sound quality is very good, clean and dominated by the quality of the headphones used. I'll be picking up a 2'nd unit, chaining the 2 common inputs, and adding 8 more discrete inputs. I'm very satisfied with this unit.

The Avantone CLA-200 Studio Reference Amplifier is easily the best purchase I made all year. I own a pair of Yamaha NS 10M Studio Monitors and for years I just used random amplifiers to power them. I decided this year to invest in a better quality amplifier to improve the overall sound quality of my Monitors. After weeks of research And reading countless reviews I decided to go with the CLA-200. I must say the shipping was immediate and I received the new amplifier the very next day after ordering. This ART amplifier drives Beyerdynamic DT-880-pro-250 well. Knob layouts are well thought and the amplifier can be tweaked without requiring too much attentions. The circuit diagram, which is printed on the top of the unit, gives a great help.

This little amplifier is exactly what I needed for my home teaching office/music studio. No, it's not the biggest, most powerful. What it is, however, is exactly what my needs called for – a tidy, efficient, high-quality, feature-rich little gem. Frankly, I have yet to find a flaw in this Pyle Pro amp. I am more than thrilled with it, and I RARELY get hyperbolic about ANYTHING.

I bought these for monitoring/mixing in my home studio. The sound is clean, the balance is excellent; it is easy to distinguish each track and hear all the detail I need to add/adjust effects and mix down. In short, I find these excellent for the purpose and don't feel the need to spend significantly more (and you'd have to to get a meaningfully better sound). There's a reason these are an industry standard.

My third pair for home studio. Durable, good value and acceptable fidelity for blogging, voice-overs, monitoring, recording, etc. Excellent choice for general purpose headphones for musicians in studio recording and field recording. Moderate sound isolation - not the best for noisy environments. Not wireless. Decent frequency response with minor coloration. There are better options for critical high-fidelity monitoring, but usually at a much higher price point. Popular for decades, with proven track record.
