These are my very favorite headphones, and I'm not just saying that because I was asked to write a review. These headphones were top of the line studio headphones for years. If you watch videos of producers in studio, they're likely to be wearing a pair. They have a very nice distribution of sound that is very open and relaxed. You don't feel like sound is being jammed into your ears. The mix of bass and highs is very even. If you like heavy heavy bass, these won't be what you're looking for. Overall, I've never been happier with a set of headphones. 5 |

I use these headphones for quiet listening from my iPhone and laptop, and also as monitors for my small recording studio. As of this review, I've used them heavily for over a month. These are magnificent headphones with quality construction, and the soft over-ear cups are very comfortable even after an hour of use. 5 |

I bought this headphone from B&H at a discount price and was amazed at its sound quality. Even its standart price is a bargain for this sound quality. It is one of the best headphones I have used. The sound quality is precise and very satifying. Wearing it for hours (which I need to do during my recording sessions in the studio) is not tiring. Its physical presence (on my ear) and audio doesn't disturb me (like some lower quality headphones). Sound insulation is just right for my needs. Excellent frequency responce, definitely fun to work with. A must for any serious audio fan/pro. I will be purchasing a second one for my studio. 5 |

I searched for months for headphones that were all about the audio. No fancy materials, no phone compatibility, no gimmicks. I wanted all my money to go for sound quality. My headphone use is purely home studio. I do not travel with them and I don't use them with portable devices. These are exactly what I was looking for and cost 3 times less than I would have been willing to pay for a set of studio headphones. The materials may be budget no metals, woods or leathers but the quality is top notch. The only drawback I can see would be that they could be too bulky for portable use, no smartphone controls, and no noise canceling. For my use these are all bonuses as it keeps the cost down and focused on the sound quality and makes for a greater value. I listen to a wide variety of music and these produce them all beautifully at any volume. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for high end sound at a great value. 5 |

i a bit of a headphone enthusiast, being a musician. i have ultrasone studio headphones, westone w3 in-ear-monitors, blue mo-fis, and various others. i was stuck in NYC recently and needed some headphones that played a bit better with some studio gear i had picked up, so i decided to take a chance on the GRADO SR80es. i'd heard about grados for years, but hadn't wanted to play around with open-back headphones. as soon as i tried them on in B&H i was sold. it's true that the SR80es don't have the pounding, overprocessed bass of something like, i guess, an Apple Beats headphone might have. but in terms of overall sound quality - blend, balance, sense of SPACE. these things absolutely amaze in those categories. i can't believe the quality of sound for $100. the open-back nature of the phones delivers an entirely different listening experience. wider, more open than anything i'd heard previously. yes, sound leak is a thing - you won't be able to listen to these on an airplane or in bed next to your significant other without them hearing plenty. and yes, sound will 'leak' IN as well, but i personally enjoy that. walking around NYC with the sounds of the city blending in to the music i was listening to - adds a new element and also adds the bonus of hearing the trash truck just before it runs me over. 5 |
