I tried these out and they work !!! How ???? They put pressure on your focusing ring and when you point your camera down, It does not slide or creep ..... and stayed in focus at the proper distance

The Blue Ring Gaffer's Glass is used for looking towards the sun to check cloud cover, or looking into lights for focusing and checking lenses. I'm really impressed with the Blue Ring. It's larger than I expected and it has a deep set ring that cups over your eye to block out unwanted light. It's also very durable. Every time I pulled it out on the last shoot I worked on, the other crew members wanted to look at it and through it. If this happens to you, make sure you take it off your neck first or it gets awkward!

When using a circular polarizers try turning the adjustment ring clockwise and only counter clockwise for minor adjustments, reason? You'll unscrew it and it will fall off at the most inopportune moment. Also if your not getting what you expect, put the sun at a 90 degree angle from the lens, (keep the sun on your left or right). It is very clear and smooth, I'm not seeing any differences in shades across the diameter of the glass. It fits very snug onto my bower UV filter, in fact so tight I had a hard time removing it but I found a fix and have tried it several times. If you find that you can't remove it just start rotating the adjustment ring in counter clockwise and it will just start unscrewing, you may have to turn it several times but it seems always work without any effort. They work great around water and to get those nice blues out of the sky and will reduce the amount of light entering the lens allowing a wider aperture for effect, especially on bright sunny days.

Now it's so much fun to shoot into the sun light, blocking the top half with this graduated filter. More natural looking than shooting HDR. Because it's multi-coated, it's harder to clean but I've been using an alcohol swab and microfiber with no problem. Sturdy and comes with a nice case. I use it mostly with my Nikon D90 with 18-200 DX lens and a step-up ring. When I use it on my 11-16 mm Tokina wide angle lens without step-up ring, I can see the ring at 4 corners at 11 mm, but I can fix it with vignette correction.
