Surveillance Camera Video Format

We got this tripod to replace an old Bogen 3038 we often borrow from anther department when we need something sturdy for our large format camera. The 475B is at least as sturdy, lighter, folds more compactly and extends much taller. It worked great with our large format camera without a wobble. We are using it with a Manfrotto 501HDV pro fluid video head, which is also superb for this application and should work well when we get the chance to use it for video.

I am so happy i got this video. It shows you how to use all the functions of the camera in an easy to understand format. It also touches on the basic fundementals of photography. I like how i can easily go back to the lessons that i want to brush up on from the menu and not have to scan through all the dvds content. This way i can quickly focus on what i need too.

Our first dedicated camcorder in several years, the Sony HDR-CX110 is far better than I expected for the price. We have it mounted to a Manfrotto tripod with 342RC2 head, and have found it convenient and easy to use to preserve the baby's first roll-over, coo, burble, what-not. The video it captures is vivid, sharp, and smooth, and the audio sounds quite good, though with a bit of noise from the zoom function. Of note: low-light performance exceeds what I'd hoped for this level of gear; we have been able to get usable video of the baby with a single living room light, late into the darkest new england evening. The video format it uses -- AVCHD or something -- is new to me (though, with mixed opinions, well-established in the consumer video market). Bit of a pain to have to convert from camera format to something the Mac can use with an iMovie conversion step; I'm accustomed to being able to grab mp2 and mp4 movies from a removable card with other cameras. Nonetheless, it's certainly a format that's miserly with storage media. Would recommend this camera to anyone looking for something easy to use, that captures great video, and doesn't cost a fortune.

If I could afford a medium format camera that's what I would be using. If you get this camera for its 4k video be prepared to size the bit rate down quite a bit before it's usable. The color depth is really good but for low light I wish they would have made this 25mp.
