Switch 2 Controller

The switch was quickly adopted by the controller and was up and running in a few minutes. 5 |

My Ubiquiti controller adopted and updated the switch perfectly. 5 |

While many manufacturers still make 2.5 SSD. Seagate, from my research, uses the same Phison controller as their m.2. While I may not notice such a difference in real life. It's best to be up to date. 5 |

I muddled through setup (not my strong suit), and got it up and running fairly quickly with the four 18Tb HDD's and two 4 Tb NVME M.2's I had. I added another four 18tb HDD's when they arrived a few days later. It worked, but not necessarily how I wanted it arranged, so I copied everything to a drive, deleted the storage pools, and reset the whole setup as new. Got everything copied back over. I am still slower than I want to be, but I think it has to do with my slow Office Depot network switch, I have ordered another that does 10g. from B&H. My relevant notes about the QNAP product. 1) Use heat sinks on your NVME M.2 - under heavy load they will overheat (which the QNAP product will monitor and warn you about) 2) QNAP software is EASY to use, and when you want to do something and can't figure it out, the software pretty much tells you what you need to install. Some of it is free, but some of it is an additional purchase, but I think it is priced well (The one app I needed for a file format was $3.) 3) Order all the hardware you want with the machine, and be patient until it arrives.. lol. I spent an extra 5 hours on setup because I have the patience of a 3 year old looking at a bag of marshmallows. I am doing 4k video editing, with LARGE files. It is acceptable as is for my purposes, but the new network switch should make this thing great. 5 |

Replaced my existing firewall, dhcp controller and network switch with ubiquity controller and network switch along with 3 ubiquity access points. It was a painless installation and network speeds are much faster. 5 |

This switch has been up and running for two weeks without problems. It was easy to install and configure with the unifi controller. You do not have to be an IT professional to deploy this thing in your home but having the unifi controller for your network devices really gives you an incentive to learn what you can truly do with these things, which is alot! A+++ 5 |

This slick little PoE switch is controlled by the UniFi management software (I'm using a CloudKey 2 controller), so I can visualize it on my network and run updates, etc. Note that there is not a PoE pass-through, even though the switch can be powered via PoE (or USB-C), it cannot provide power to any PoE device plugged into it. 5 |

This has been an excellent switch, and easily managed via the UniFi controller. The auto-sensing 802.3af ports (4 of them) are currently powering two access points and one Ubiquiti USW flex mini switch (USW-Flex-Mini), which is an awesome little 5 port switch in its own right. I'm able to set up separate port VLANS and other fun stuff on it. It's also a well built metal switch. It does get fairly hot, but not excessively, so you won't want to put it in a small, confined space without some air movement. 5 |

If your in need a managed switch with full Nbase-T and 10Gbase-T support with POE this is gonna be hard to beat. You will need a Unifi controller to run this switch as it does not have an independent GUI for management. But if your already in the Unifi ecosystem or your interested in buying into it, this makes a solid 10G copper and SFP switch for a home office, home lab, or small to medium office. The controller makes configuration simple and fast. It has full VLAN support and can be used as either a small core switch or a multi gig AP / client switch. My use case was to provide 2.5Gbps links to a router and PC, and 10G to a NAS. Then I use a downstream switch for the rest of the network. So far, aim very happy. However I will say the port negotiation for speeds above 1G is flaky. I ended up setting the port speeds manually which prevents the temporary port disconnects I was experiencing. This is the only com only complaint I have. Build quality is excellent. It is not fanless but virtually silent though I'm not pulling any POE out of it. 5 |
