Switch Emulator Hardware Requirements

Until my existing USB devices catch up to Apples new hardware requirements, this thing is a must.

This is a easy to setup, powerful, and highly functional piece of computer hardware that means my requirements for my MacBook Pro Time Machine.

I needed a small desk switch and this was perfect. It even covers the PoE requirements I had.

This switch was a perfect match for my requirements, where I needed some managed POE switches that could fit into small cabinets. The application is for security video, so the network equipment is in locking enclosures with limited space. They are also fanless, which is a bonus because it’s a quiet environment. The construction and packaging are high quality, and setup is easy using a UniFi network controller.

The IOGEAR 4 port met my requirements. Switch recognizes what is the active input and switches that feed to line going to our TV.

The hardware included made it a breeze to iinstall the switch. My only regret it do not work out of the box with smartthings, with 30min research I was able to control the lights. It also cannot trigger events at smartthings like if you flip a switch another smart plug will also turn on. It can be done with zwave switch but not with this switch.

This switch is well built, heavy. It comes with all the mounting hardware to install in a rack or on a desk. It is plug and play: plug your network connections and everything works as it should. It comes with 3 years warranty: I expect it to last at least 3x that much. The activity lights are on the one side of the ports and small; however that is a trivial inconvenience.

I am normally a person that uses enterprise equpment like Cisco, Brocade, etc. Wanting high performance hardware with all the features expected in a professional environment. Getting a consumer switch means giving up a lot in some situations. I just recently upgraded to Wifi 7 and needed a switch for Multi-Gig RJ45 and instead of getting a switch with just enough ports for similar cost, this switch had by far the most 10gb connectivity for the price and it was also managed to allow me to do mose of the basic things I want to do. It runs completly silent, and nice and cool. For the average home this might be expensive but for someone who needs it, they know this is actually pretty cheap.

I was having some slow downs in my home network/lab with some lower quality hardware. I switched to the Unifi US-24 switch as well as a Unifi POE 8 port and it has been night and day for the network. vlan, device detection as well as being able to review statistics has been very helpful. I have this in my closing in the office and can barely hear it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a great quality switch!

I bought this switch due to increase power availibility and the fact that it has an internal power transformer so that i didn't have a ecternal brick sitting around to add cord clutter. Using this for 4 omada wall plate wifi mesh AP's (poe), the vpn router, and a hardware cpntroller (poe). The AP's use a LOT less power than the spec sheet says so with this switch i have more availible POE that i think i'd ever be able to use in the limited number of ports. Setup is very nice using the omada hardware controller.
