The switch has one port for connecting up a level to a server, a router, a modem to the internet, or even another switch. Then it has 4 more ports for adding a subset of devices to your home ethernet that will communicate with each other at 1Gb. For instance, I connected my computer, a NAS storage device, and an Epson printer to the switch in my office. I then connected this switch's uplink port to a second switch in my wife's office. In that room, the second switch's uplink port is connected to our AT&T modem/router, and to my wife's computer on the same subnet as the switch in my office. All connections, except the one to our slow AT&T moden/router, were made with Cat 6 ethernet cable. With this configuration, my home network works at 1Gbit between devices, which is nice for using the NAS storage for backing up either computer, sending large photographs to the printer, and for playing the iTunes music stored on the NAS. No re-configuring of the network was required. I simply plugged the switches in as described, replaced the Cat 5 cables, and it just works!

Recently my old switch stopped working in my office and so I purchased the Gigabit GREENnet Switch by TRENDnet.I simply plugged in the cables and it worked like a charm. Its energy saving features are plus. I also like how it tells you (by the color of the led) what kind of speed is being delivered to each computer. Just because the switch can deliver gigabit speed does not mean that your older computer is capable of using that speed if it only has a 10/100 MB ethernet card installed. It also has a very durable metal casing, rather than plastic. I have nothing negative to say about this switch. Great bang for the buck!

I'm using those as computer speakers in my office. I used to have a 2.1 system but the sound from those is so much better. The remote is great and allows you to switch between sources, skip tracks (for bluetooth), adjust bass an trebble.

Did you know that you can't even get the computer to work without a Microsoft Login now? Super annoying.
