Synology Usb Copy

I previously purchased a Synology DS918+ and purchased this DS923+ for use in a different location. I am not a super tech savvy user with NAS's and was a novice with the DS918+, but I did successfully set it up and have been using it since (4 years ago). My purpose for these two is a home local storage device for computer backups and entertainment storage (currently movies and music), and I wanted to copy the original's storage to the new unit. The DS923+ set up similar to the DS918+ in a relatively short period with little problem - I installed 4-1TB drives (870 EVO) and 2-400GB cache/new volume drives (must be Synology brand model approved), 32 GB RAM (A-Tech), and a 10GBe port if I ever need it (my needs are small so far). Downloading the operating system and software packages desired is straight forward and quick, the downloading process and user software is user friendly. I used Synology Drive and Sync Drive apps to copy all the storage to the new unit, the copy process took less than 1 hour after apps were set up. Apparently, there are many methods to copy one to another, but I educated myself and chose the Synology Drive and Share Sync apps because I also wanted the two NAS's to sync with each other once they are in different geographical locations and different LAN's (I did the copy process on the same LAN, so time will tell if I can get the two to talk with one another on different LAN's). From a fairly novice point of view, I think the Synology products - software and hardware - work very well and are fairly user friendly. If you are a novice, watch lots of you-tube videos and become familiar with the Synology Knowledge website to figure most of this stuff out. It can be a bit confusing at times, but educating yourself on the terminology, patience, and reading these sources got me through it. If this tech stuff doesn't intimidate you and you have some computer skills, this shouldn't be a barrier to purchasing, installing, and using them.

I can copy files on it quickly. I love the dual USB (A and C), they both work. So far I am very happy with it.

Not the highest tech audio component, but the CD-400U is what I was looking for to fill a void in my audio system setup. All I wanted was a single CD player that would also play-back pre-recorded tracks from SD cards and USB drives. This unit can also copy CDs to the SD/USB media, but is limited to MP3 format in copy mode. Playback in WAV and other higher resolution formats is available. The unit also has AM/FM radio tuners, but I'm not likely to use them. The owner's manual is available on the Teac/Tascam website, and provides full details on its capabilities

It didn’t erase the USB thumb drive that, before after a format would say copy protected? Other than that seems to work good.

I bought this with the intention of backing up my photo projects short-term so I can confidently clear all the images from my memory card after a project. The USB card works perfectly for that. It is so small I keep it installed all the time and barely notice it. When I bought my current laptop, I got a fast SSD drive instead of a comparably-priced HDD with a lot of storage space. This USB drive has the same capacity as my computer’s hard drive so it forces me into the good practice of using my internal drive only for storage of current and pending projects. When I am done editing a project, I copy that folder to the SanDisk drive and delete the original unedited version. At the end of the month, I copy all of that month’s photo projects to an external hard drive. I periodically copy those monthly folders to other drives and clear files of my laptop. Note that transferring data to the SanDisk USB drive is slower than transferring to an external hard drive, it’s not a big thing but just don’t expect blazing transfer speed. I usually start a transfer at a point where I’m ready to be away from the computer for a few minutes, no biggie and it’s a small price to pay for the convenience and peace-of-mind.

Tested with 100GB of video files. First, it reaches around 570~590MB/s. After 15% of copy, it drops to 250~270MB/s. The USB will get hotter after 3mins of copying. Actually, this is way better than any USB flash drive so far. The burst copy is all I need. If you are looking for a consistent super fast speed drive. Get an external SSD, not a USB flash drive.

I purchased this super-large USB drive as a dedicated backup to my 8GB Synology NAS which as a USB Backup application. The extra capacity provides future space for versioning and archive of deleted files.

Use this to power our Synology NAS system. Was very easy to connect to the system via supplied USB cable and fast to set up via Synology's OS. Very quite and so far working perfectly after a few weeks. Plan to purchase a few more desktop version for all our PC too.
